  • Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder On Comeback: Boxing Dies Without Excitement Of American Heavyweight Champ

Deontay Wilder made it clear this week that he plans to continue his boxing career at the age of 36. "The Bronze Bomber" is coming off a hellacious trilogy against Tyson Fury in which he suffered a total of five knockdowns in back-to-back stoppage losses in Feb. 2020 and Oct. 2021.

Even though I am from the UK, it is great for boxing when there is a great American heavyweight.

Maybe Jared Anderson. Sonny Conto has skills. I dont think Ricard Torres has the chin to be elite.

Also, as the first to comment, I must state that my posting is the best so far.

Not when the American Heavyweight Champ gasses out after one and a half rounds.

I wouldn't exactly say Wilder did very much in terms of helping the sport when he was the champ. Years of awful title defences was the majority of his reign.

Sure he was a decent foil for Fury, but it was mostly fury who drew eyes to that rivalry and Wilder was very much just the nemesis of that story and not the protagonist.

All of that being said I will personally watch his next fights, yes the guy is deluded as hell but he is fun to watch.

There is always the excitement for big ko from Wilder but that's it. I can live and watch boxing without that

Yea - Remember when Boxing “died” with Lennox Lewis’ reign. Wilder fought the majority of his cherry-pick mismatch defenses in a barn in his hometown.
