Comments Thread For: Vergil Ortiz-David Avanesyan In Play For August 6 In Texas

Vergil Ortiz Jr. is not only sticking around at welterweight but made a point to seek out one of the division's boogeymen. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the unbeaten top-rated welterweight contender will next face David Avanesyan atop an August 6 DAZN show from [arena] in [Dallas], Texas. The scheduled 12-round bout will serve as a final eliminator for the WBC welterweight title current WBC/WBA/IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. (28-0, 22KOs).

Poor Avanesyan has waited for an opportunity for so long, and he's getting massacred at the first he gets.

Sounds like a good fight but I’m kind of making that assumption because Eddie Hearn pizzez down his leg every time someone mentions Avanesyan as a possible Conor Benn opponent.

I would rather get tickled by McKinson than punched by Avanesyan. Good fight though

Avanesyan is a better fit for Connor Benn. I thing Ortiz and Boots both stop him brutally.

He doesn't want to give Frank a pay day.

Avanesyan last opponent was a headliner and ranked 130 odd in the world so it lasted a round, hard for him to accuse anyone of ducking with a straight face after that and only the Queensbury Queens have been asking for that one.

Virgils already beaten Kavaliauskas who beat David so you got to think this is straight forward for Virgil but a good fight.

Looks like Benn is after Ramierez which is a good fight.

It's weird what David has done with his career hopefully this comes off as so far it's been a series of bad decisions.

Ooooh! Love this fight! gonna be good while it lasts! some people seem to think it's an easy win for Ortiz, and I can see what they mean, but... Don't forget he was rocked against Kavaliauskas ! SO anything can happen. ( Even though Kavaliauskas beat Avanesyan .. but that was 4 years ago..)
