Smith was allegedly absent because he is under investigation for some form of ******** probe.
That's a shocker. I thought he was off sick or something of that nature. Wouldn't have thought it was for that kind of reason.

      Wow on the Smith news.

Read some of Shane McGuigan’s comments on Okolie and I don’t think he seems to happy with Lawrence - possibly a lack of professionalism being hinted at, and probably also a bit irritated at whoever’s advising Okolie (think they’ve got his contractual situation and who he owes a fight wrong twice now!).

Maybe they’ll split and then he can fight CBS

Same here. Makes me wonder weather the supposed betting is boxing related because he obviously has influence being on commentary. He also has a lot of power in regards to matchmaking, Matchroom and now Boxxer essentially had/have to get their televised bouts approved by Sky.

Possibly explains why CBS is being steered towards the WBO route.

Okolie is possibly taking advice from the wrong people. I can understand him wanting to leave Matchroom as there are bigger money fights for him on Sky but the way he’s handled it hasn’t been great. I expect it to get a bit messy legally.

It’s an interesting one, cruiser seems to be heating up. Really need to see a Brit get a belt off Makabu/Goulamirian (presuming he wins tonight)/Opetaia.

Anything on CBS-Opetaia, I see you said WBO route but I thought they’d be more keen to make that now that Whateley lost the eliminator and that potential all-Aussie fight is off

I don’t think any negotiations have started. Boxxer have no excuse not to get these fights made really. Makabu, Goulamirian are both willing to travel and I’d assume Opetaia would be too.

I think Okolie’s issues with MR stem from the same frustrations, he couldn’t understand why a unification wasn’t being made.

Frustrating for the boxers and the fans. Makabu is difficult with the King association though. I don’t actually think he’ll win his next fight, unfortunately Mikaeylan’s also gonna have the same King involvement so there’s the same issue there.

What do you reckon of tonight’s fight? I know very little about either fighter except that they both seem to have been extremely inactive.

I favour Gevor myself. Mchunu clearly beat Makabu IMO, that was a blatant robbery for me.

I rate Goulamirian I think he’s a bit of a sleeper in the division. Obviously the inactivity is a factor and isn’t ideal preparation but I reckon Goulamirian wins on points.

Agreed on Makabu-Mchunu. Yea, had heard someone say Goulamirian was good. Never seen him fight myself.

Did you see Richards-Chelli is at a 171lbs catchweight with no English title on the line? Very odd

I knew it wasn’t gonna be for the English but didn’t expect a catchweight. Richards must be struggling to make 168.
