Sad news as Deion Jumah has not only withdrawn from his fight with Mikael Lawal but has been forced to retire from boxing after suffering a detached retina for the second time in his career.

Luke Watkins or Isaac Chamberlain could replace Jumah for the vacant British title shot. Doubtful they’d be ready for Nov 27th though.

That is sad. A really early end to his career. He hasn't even had the chance to earn life changing money yet. I hope he stays within the sport in some .

Jumah has been so unlucky. He had great potential, he was part of that golden generation at Dale Youth ABC with Groves and DeGale. His amateur record was exceptional, only the one loss I believe and that was in the 2010 ABA finals. He’d go on to win the ABA’s in 2011 and 2012- actually beat CBS in 2012 I think.

I think he turned pro with Sauerland, might have been K2, it was definitely a German based promoter and they just couldn’t get him dates, it was so stop-start. Then he suffered the first eye injury in around 2016, couldn’t get a licence for a few years, finally gets his career back on track and is getting opportunities on a big platform like Sky and this happens. Some people just have no luck. As you said, hopefully he stays within the sport in some capacity.

Not a bad opponent on late notice. Was hoping for Chamberlain though tbh.

Gwynne v Woodruff and Belotti v Yousuf Khoumarri are the standouts for me. Good fights.

Yeah good matchups, I like the look of Collins-Hamza and Dillon-Dilmaghani too. Although I thought Dilmaghani was meant to be fighting Cacace for the IBO.

I’m gonna use the word “allegedly” with this one cause I don’t fancy getting a legal letter but Sky Sports head of Boxing Adam Smith was con****uously absent from their broadcast last weekend. Adam has been a mainstay with Sky for around 25 years and regularly appears on commentary.

Smith was allegedly absent because he is under investigation for some form of ******** probe.
