Joyce-Parker could get pushed back from July to September. Frank is still planning a July show in London that will feature the return of Anthony Yarde.

Chisora vs Kownacki is on the table for July 9th. Chisora has signed. Matchroom are waiting on a signature from Kownacki.

Unsure what’s happening with Hughie Fury vs Hunter, deal has reportedly been agreed but still no date or venue announced. July 16th in London was previously rumoured.

Maxi Hughes and Kid Galahad are in talks for a fight later this year at 135 lbs.

Josh Kelly will be added to the Wasserman card in Liverpool on June 17th. Opponent TBA.

Probellum have become increasingly quiet. Their last UK show was April and they have nothing announced throughout the summer yet. Their TV deal with Eurosport has also been nixed. Growing concerns amongst many of their fighters.

Think RJJ has a degree of insider knowledge from contacts in the boxing scene, I have none, I predominantly get mine from Twitter, articles and other stuff. I get a lot of mine from this thread just like you to be honest!

Thanks brother…it just seems like everyone knows and I am the last to know…

I read a few boxing blogs from time to time and they just praise Japanese fighters

I just look at the chicks and avoid reading complex kanji

I do like a few Mexican announcers but they tend to get irritating

japanese ex boxers turned announcers tend to not speak a lot

I guess ring site seating can be mezmorizing?? Spelling ain’t my strong suit but I don’t use autocorrect

        • Seen Dalton meant to be back on the 29th April, any news on potential opponents they’re considering? Presumably a British title defence?

Anything else for the Smith-Eubank Jr card?

Matchroom have a show 25th February at the O2 apparently, who do you reckon headlines? Whyte? Benn? Buatsi?

I’ve heard a rumour it might be Kid Galahad moving up, I don’t like that fight though tbh. Most of the British 140 lb guys are tied up with other promoters, so it could only really be Gardener, Rafferty or someone like that.

I think it’s just Frazer Clarke and other prospects unfortunately, I know a few of the Liverpool lads are hoping to get on the card like Hyland, Stringer etc. I expected Azim as well to be on the card but that looks highly unlikely now.

Pretty sure Feb 25th will be Buatsi. I think Benn’s next fight will be abroad likely in the UAE.

I'm not massive on Galahad either at that weight, seems a bit of a joke seeing as he was at 126 two fights ago, but as you say there's not a tremendous amount of potential opposition. Doubt Channel 5 would want to give up Harlem Eubank that easily - ideally that's the one I'd want to see but presumably highly unlikely. Who's Ennis-Brown with?

Fair enough re: Eubank-Smith. Probably won't be buying it if I'm honest. Do like to support where I feel the card deserves it, but this isn't it imo.

Shame they pulled out of the Pascal fight for Buatsi, that would've been an excellent step up, and I'm not sure how many other opponents there are for him on that kind of fringe contender level. Who do you reckon it'll be? Boesel, Bauderlique? Any chance of Bivol or is that a bit optimistic?

I think he was with MTK/Lee Eaton. Obviously that will have changed with the Kinahan links and demise of MTK so he’s likely a free agent. He’d be a great opponent for Smith, he got badly robbed against Sam Maxwell IMO. I think the bigger promoters have froze him out a bit as he’s high risk low reward as an opponent.

It’s never a PPV card IMO. I’ve been really disappointed with Shalom/Boxxer thus far, I thought they made a great start last Feb with Eubank-Williams, Khan-Brook and Taylor-Catterall but it’s been pretty disappointing since I think.

Boesel is a name who’s been floating about, he’d be a very safe choice. Padraig McCrory is another name I’d probably throw in the mix as well.

Ah Ennis-Brown sounds good then. Hopefully people will get his name mentioned as a possible opponent, but as you say, not really much of a name.

Yeah I don't think it's PPV, neither is Taylor-Catterall II. Surely they recognise that a contentious PPV just means loads of the existing viewers stream it, and no new viewers will watch it - it'd make more sense to build awareness and recognition among their fighters to stick it on regular Sky? I guess even 100-150k buys does help pay the purses though.

McCrory would be alright, would infinitely prefer that to a Boesel or Bauderlique, do you think it's likely they'd be able to get him?

                  • Wood-Lara is seemingly finally over the line. Will be Feb 18th rather than Feb 4th though at Nottingham Arena.

I hate Sky when it comes to boxing, they never invest in the sport, it’s just take, take, take. Seems like it’s gonna be the exact same as the Matchroom model, anything decent gets slung behind a paywall.

I think Probellum would definitely let him take it, they can’t get their guys dates so if Sky, BT or DAZN come knocking they’ll usually be open to letting their guys get some exposure.
