Never saw Pulev fight but looked at his record and their stats and I figured the odds were against Kovalev. He did very well and showed that he was a prior elite by winning at a new weightclass and coming off nearly 3 years inactivity.Comment

A part of me felt that Kovalev would lose as a result of being a faded fighter. This article suggests that he still has some gas left in the tank. He admitted himself that the long layoff affected his performance. Not only that but it’s a new weight, nearly 25 pounds more than his usual weight. I don’t think he beat elite guys at this point of his career but if he can fight lower level guys and make some solid paydays before he retires, that’s okay by me. He showed he can still box. Also, I was looking for clips of the fight ok Triller’s Twitter but those guys seem more interested. In pushing their concerts than the actual fights.Comment

He barely threw either in the Ward fights either. Very little right hands, almost no left hooks or uppercuts. You'd think elite pros who do this full time for like 25 years by that point, that if they know how to throw one punch very well, they would also know how to throw the others at least in the same ballpark. And if not when they turn pro, then at least they would improve them as their careers go on. But Kovalev's non-jabs have gotten worse since then not better.Comment
