Also Canelo choose to sign with Hearn for a 2 fight of deal INSTEAD OF PBC. If Canelo wanted to stay at 168 and fight Benvenidez or Charlo he would have choose it. He is a free agent who chooses who he fights. Canelo rejected that. And props to him. He wanted to pursue greatness.

Compare with fighting at ****** catchweights approximate to LMW for years to sidestep GGG, though he was rehydrating at 175-180. Seemed obvious to me who the problem was.

in other words fixed fights only for the P4P Princess. also Bivol looked like trash and still easily won. bivol was paid 2 million. plant was paid 10. Princess paying guys crazy money to take a dive.

1) Fighters shouldn't be discouraged from trying to be great
2) I didn't hear anybody saying it was a mismatch in favour of Bivol pre-fight 3) If he didn't have the courage to move up, fight the toughest guys he never would've cleaned out 168 either

They know/his who Bivol was He's a lt. heavy champion with 11 defences, won interim title in 7th fight full title in 9th fight.. He had to be NO slouch. Champ for few years already. and unbeaten. They knew, but thought, because of his previous 2 sluggish fights that he was a pushover and an easy way tom pick up another lt.heavy belt. Did;;t they say that they were fooled by Bivils average performances against Richards, and the other guy.!!

I mean as far as crossover appeal goes. There’s no way he can crossover to the American public. Especially with this war going on.

He lost to Sturm in his previous fight quite easily, lost almost every round, but corrupt judges gave it to him with ltst of protesting fans. Then he took a dive against Hopkins when he was supposedly flattened by that feather glancing little tap...which didn't prevent him from acting it out by being on his knees and thumping the canvas with his fight in "frustration".. All phony.... very bad acting of course. . A week or two later Hopkins is a 3-5% partner.

I agree Sturm was definitely robbed. In fact that’s probably the worst robbery in the history of boxing that I know of. But HBO was really pumping Hopkins’s at the time. He was already undisputed champion and knocked out Trinidad and everyone else of note in the middleweight division. They really wanted Hopkins to get that crossover fight. But I disagree that De La Hoya took a dive. I think he just got beat up.

It wasn't a good business move for the Canelo brand, no.

But at this point he has generational wealth. He wanted something beyond just the money, he tried for historical greatness and legacy.

That should be applauded by both his fans and his haters in my opinion.

This is ridiculous. Canelo picked Bivol, I believe because he is actually a small LHW. Most LHW's are at least 6"2' and walk around 20-30 pounds heavier. Bivol is only 6"0' and has a smallish frame for a LHW.

He's fought huge guys like Pascal, Richards, and others.

Canelo figured if he picked the smallest LHW he'd have a much better chance - but I always suspected Bivol who has never been down, would be able to stand up to Canelo's power shots and outbox him.
I'm not saying I was the only person to pick Bivol but I knew it would be a lot harder than most.

First of all, win or lose, I have always said Canelo picked the right guy. I said it before the fight, win or lose, props to Canelo.

Secondly, Canelo picked Bivol. It was his own ballsy move.

Lastly, DLH couldn’t do anything to stop Canelo from fighting who he wanted to fight. Mayweather, Lara, GGG, it didn’t matter. Canelo always picks the best.
