What was Team Canelo thinking picking Bivol?

I'm not a pro boxer but just from watching a highlight video of Bivol I knew he was gonna be a nightmare for Canelo. Dude barely gets touched in fights against other elite LHWs and is also big as hell. Style wise he is literally the worst possible opponent for Canelo.

Beterbiev, Benavidez, Charlo etc would all have been easier stylewise.

Wtf was Canelo's handlers thinking picking Bivol?

It was him of Beterbiev. They assumed from his last two fights it would be a cakewalk, and worst case scenario they’ve always got 4 rounds in the bag going in.

I'll tell you what they weren't thinking.
That Eddie Hearn would betray them with the judges/scorecards. Blame Eddie for Clownelo losing.

i wonder did someone say, eh nelo, these guys are better (a lot better) then the guys at 168, bigger too, this combo might not be too good

what were his options? slag off charlo & benny and make big fights with them, seems like a much better option now actually, charlo is a ****er & benny is kinda unknown a bit

charlo & benny would have captured the US market very well, they would have been big big events & still are actually, just lick your wounds, stop old fart ggg and off u go again, good plan

They thought Bivol was a small light-heavyweight, that lacked enough pop to hurt Canelo. They believed Canelo would stalk and walk through him with slick counters and orbital bone crushing punches.

indeed, but it was nelo who ended up having his eyes opened about a few things
