You saw it when he went to his corner and did that thing where he's kicking dirt/the mat with both feet waiting for the stool and folks to get out of the way (annoyed, frustrated and impatient)... at that point the fight was over in my book.
    To quote Shawn Porter:

If a guy has a longer reach, you get inside and force him to fight at YOUR reach.

Look at what Spence just did against Ugas. Spence was eating jabs upstairs until he got two-pieced, then he just said F it and beat the body down.

The fact is, Top 75 fighters are too big and too strong for Canelo. The footwork, patience, and distance Bivol displayed is what frustrated Canelo. I don’t know that Canelo was expecting that from Bivol. Bivol showed amazing poise and was laser focused. The difference is that Canelo usually overwhelms fighters and makes them loose their focus and that’s when he capitalizes. They loose focus and get caught with a shot that makes them question their game plan and then Canelo moves in for the kill. Bivol was just too smart. He knew he couldn’t loose focus on his gameplan and it paid off.

thats what i think too, bivol had like 2 or 3 answers for anything canelo did, he shouldnt take the rematch, he has canelo's number. I think canelo COULD adjust to save more stamina for the late rounds.... but i dont see it enough to win the fight.

bivol just shut him down with everything, body shots for example, bivol had the option of simply backing up out of range or blocking with his elbows, he used more than one method to avoid the body shots and both worked. his guard was able to block canelo's hooks to the face, his attempts to split the guard, his body shots, and his upper cuts. You got canelo trying 4 different shots there and bivol blocking all 4 repeatedly with ease. That was too much of a domination, complete shutdown of anything canelo tried. Even if canelo adjusts one or two things its not enough.

From what I saw, Canelo threw maybe 2-3 body punches per round. He throws one, then resorts to headhunting for a minute. Throws one, headhunts for another minute. Throws another one, then headhunts for the last minute.

The most consistent punch he threw was a right hand around the guard of Bivol, which was for the most part, blocked. He landed some good one’s, and a few uppercuts. He fell in love with them and forgot all about the body for the most part.

There was an opening to the body right down the middle of it. Canelo kept throwing around the elbows, to the rib area. And it failed all night. Easier said than done, but Canelo should have mixed up his attack to the body. Solarplex, sides, arms…just do it for as many rounds as it takes to make him drop his guard a bit.

Canelo didn’t mix up his attack either to the body or head. He loaded up on one punch at a time. And he wasn’t doing anything to open Bivol up for that loaded punch. The loaded punches worked at times, but that just was not going to work. So he was essentially just throwing one power punch at a time. How can you win like that vs a good boxer who is heavier and taller than you, with more reach than you?

the cherry pick program back fired. alvared is still the same fighter. He just gained experience of his own style. when he started to get hit he tried to quit. i saw it in his face. The ducking clown got exposed. the skills of Bivol is the main reason why the fake tough guy won't ever get in there with Charlo and Benavidez. Those two would put some serious hurt on him. the sweet science of boxing
M Bison M Bison likes this.

Let me explain it better than Mike:

                  He fought a better fighter.

True, but Bivol isn't any guy. Imagine if Bivol decides to use the stragegy Tarver used in the first RJJ fight in the rematch.. faster, better techique. Still want to watch the rematch, I like skill and want to see how Canelo adjusts. I can it going like Hopkins vs RJJ 1st fight, but in which fighters favor. Will the plan go out the window once punched in the face? Thats why a rematch would be nice to watch imo.
