Hall of fame boxing trainer Freddie Roach has confirmed to this writer that a slander case is in the works against Floyd Mayweather Sr. Recently, Mayweather Sr went on the record and accused the pound for pound king, Manny Pacquiao of taking illegal steroids. In response to these allegations,, Roach said, " All of the sudden Floyd Mayweather Sr is an expert on steroids? Tell me what kind of steroids Manny is taking Floyd? Tell me how much you know about steroids, first of all. Steroids had nothing to do with the perfect right hand that Manny landed on your fighter, because you didn't teach him how to get out of the way."

Roach is infuriated with these allegations, and goes on to say, " That same punch that we landed on your fighter, is the same one that we'll land on your son, and we'll pass a drug test because we don't take drugs, we don't believe in drugs, and we don't need drugs!"

Roach confirms slander case in the works.

"I am going to talk to my lawyer, there could be a slander case here, and we will sue him. I talked to Manny, and I talked to an attorney, and we are all on board here. This is all over the place now that Manny is on steroids, it's defaming his name."

    Roach BLASTS Mayweather

"Get a flghter Floyd, and you will ruin him too. He ruined Ricky Hatton, Ricky was so much better than before Mayweather Sr got him. Not the best trainer, I think Floyd is the F*#@ worst trainer in the world!"

He said he believed Pacquiao was on steroids... he was stating his opinion, saying what he thinks... he didn't say it was a fact, he said what he thinks is happening, his opinion... so I really can't see any point in a slander case... he should just come out and say Floyd Sr. is bull****ting and he isn't taking steroids, saying he has been clean in all of his test.

I aint very big on law and all that, especially in America... but isn't there freedom of speech over there? All he was doing is stating his opinion, he wasn't saying it was a fact... saying there is proof, he just said what he thought is happening... if anything its a compliment, cause if Pacquiao isn't on steroids... which I think he isn't, then is basically says some guys actually think hes that good.

      Tom,

You and I don't agree on this topic, and t's unlikely we will. I'm actually OK with FMJ's work at 130, 135, and 140.

I won't engage in the insults with you, though. That's not interesting to me.

      Cheers, mate.

SLANDER occur when a person or entity communicates false information that damages the reputation of another person or entity. Slander occurs when the false and defamatory communication is spoken and heard. Libel occurs when the false and defamatory communication is written and seen. The laws governing libel and slander, which are collectively known as DEFAMATION, are identical. This is slander in its fullest!

Yeah, Space. The actual quote was "In my honest OPINION, I BELIEVE that Manny..."

I think some folks either didn't actually see/hear the video, or are uneducated about the Bill of Rights.

Pac Boy... you are leaving out CRITICAL information about "factual vs opinion".

The law isn't incomplete like that. You will see that to defame someone, you have to present the information as fact. FMS did not do that.

Most jurisdictions also recognize "opinion" as a logical defense. A person's opinion has to be clearly separated from the assertion of fact. For instance, if someone you just met, who knows nothing about you calls you a "deadbeat" this most likely will be regarded as opinion since it has no basis in fact. A few jurisdictions, though, have eliminated the distinction between opinion and fact and in this case one must be well aware of the slander laws that prevail in a particular location.

Its just that he hates Pacquiao that much. Who wouldnt? PAC Practically destroyed all his heroes.
