    Canelo Is Fighting Father Time

First off, in no way am I saying this was the lone reason for his loss tonight. In my other post I predicted Bivol would win and mentioned nothing of Father Time. But, this fight really showed signs of decline and a big part of it is the weight. Going up and down in weight damages any fighter and adds wear and tear. Not to mention that Canelo has ALWAYS had stamina issues. Canelo turned pro at 15 and is now 32. He’s not young in boxing years. Canelo is a special fighter so seeing him KO all these guys kinda makes you forget that he’s been a pro for so long. I remember an interview where Mayweather said he felt his body declining after the Gatti fight, even though we saw him dominate for so long afterwards. When Canelo said he has 6-7 years of fighting I was like no way, he doesn’t have the physical gifts to do so

This is a mis-timed thread as no one is going to ready the op properly and assume you are blaming the loss to ageing...which is not true.

But I agree with you, I don't think he will last as long as he thinks he will. Certainly not at elite level

Canelo has had a lot of pro fights from a young age but no amateur career really, so it probably is just relative to guys like Bivol that had hundreds of amateur fights. I mean he’s shown no signs of looking any older than he is.

Last night he simply met a fighter that can match and exceed him skill for skill. I picked Bivol to win but thought it’d be a bit closer and he would get robbed.

That’s why I mentioned how I didn’t say anything about Father Time in my prediction thread I made months ago. His loss was because of other reasons, but this is a fact.

he's had more losses, not just the official 2 on his "record"

canelo and his team are business ppl... all they need to do is win 3 rounds and then not get KO'd.. Not a bad position to be in.

Agreed. But he’s not “in his prime” as a lot of people try to say. He’s actually been past prime since GGG, those 2 fights took a lot out of him

I think this loss was pretty much entirely down to him facing someone too big and stylistically problematic. But 31 is nearing the twilight of prime for most guys, especially if they're not a HW. Hes maybe got another 2-3 years before it becomes noticeable.
