I called it as soon as the fight was signed. Bivol is/was all wrong for Canelo, even moreso than Beterbiev.

i honestly believed bivol could pull it off just that he wasn't gonna get the nod since canelo always gets the benefit of the doubt, so happy to be wrong.

I hope everyone who has been on this site for a while knows I own my bad picks. Be glad to list them whenever anyone is curious. I am not a boxing soothsayer. I am a fan who tries to pick well.

I have been saying since before Alvarez unified the last 168 belt he would not beat Bivol or Beterbiev. It is not a slam against someone's legacy to say LHW is a step too high for him. Kovalev was already a damaged fighter when Alvarez beat him, his weaknesses were perfect for Alvarez strengths. Bivol was not that. A prime fighter who may not have great power for his division, but he is stronger than Alvarez and has zero technical weaknesses. If anyone wants me to prove it, said in the thread where Bivol talked about how Alvarez had weaknesses and had been beaten in the past that Bivol would handle his business. I respect Alvarez for reaching for greatness. No shame in losing to Bivol.

But honestly, I was shocked more people did not call for this. Bivol just is better at this weight.

Beterbiev would have ended Canelo within the early rounds. Now, can I PLEASE have my Beterbiev/Bivol unification so long as Smith does not upset my plans? Please??

I personally hedged it but wasn't confident enough to go with the full pick:

I over Bivol in this fight but truthfully thought he would get fughed hard on the cards
So went with Canelo dec close
Now had it been my guy , Beterbiev , I would of slammed the fughin house on it

I thought he’d get robbed on the cards so I hedged on a draw, but I won some decent money on Bivol UD at +700

i wastched some bivol fights in the last few weeks and had some concerns, i was rooting for canelo so just shy of picking bivol. biggest thing i saw was bivols foot work and handspeed. the unknown for me was how would bivol deal with a shorter guy coming in trying to rip him to the body because there isnt anyone like that at light heavy.

first 60 seconds of the fight i saw that not even the body shots were there for canelo to land, and bivol had so many options, he could either just back away using his superior foot speed or he could block them to the guard, canelo could barely land on him. that was the difference with everyone at 168 and kovalev, canelo couldnt break this guy down he could barely land and he was so tired in the late rounds.

Don't understand all beter talk...beter could very well beat canelo or he may have outboxed beter in a close fight who knows

But most people on here acting like beter is a better fighter than bivol is absolutely ridiculous to me

If bivol and beter fight I honestly think beter gets taken to school and clown by bivol

Bivols distance shot picking timing and footwork along with his effortless turned over punches that do considerable damage easily makes him the favorite imo

I have only two posts regarding the fight.

When it was announced I mentioned the GGG trilogy was a gimme fight but that the Bivol match up was his most difficult style match up and that I was impressed he took it.

Only other comment on the fight was someone asked how does Bivol win. I pretty much said he just needs to be him and that even an elite fighter like Canelo would get frustrated.

I wouldn't say I outright said Bivol was gonna win win but I considered him a good favorite to win that fight in my eyes. Mainly because I always felt Bivol was a handful for anyone. Mainly because he is so economical and is a natural mover who does not ture himself out.
