We came back and what Showtime told us was he didn’t want the fight – he wasn’t interested in doing the fight. But I’m telling you, there was no conversation with Al [Haymon, Lara’s manager] or any of the promoters that are working with Al or anybody about what the money was. We never got that far. We were told [Lara] didn’t want the fight after Demetrius beat Culcay. That’s exactly what happened.
We let it go because that was weeks ago. Then there was an article that came out on BoxingScene that had Lara saying we priced ourselves out of the fight. There was never any discussion of money. It was that Lara wanted to fight [IBF champion Jarrett] Hurd or somebody else. He did not want to fight Andrade.
Vazquez, Cintron, Baldomir, N'dou, Smith, Chavez Jr, Saunders, or Plant aren't as good as Vanes was when he was 33-0.
Keep it moving betamax.Comment

You put your question mark in the middle of the sentence man, what the hell was I supposed to think that meant?
The points I made were all clear - just because someone is avoided doesn't mean they necessarily want the fight either. A lot of times guys mutually avoid each other - a loss is damning in today's game and if the money isn't right then neither guy will be interested.
There is a reason Andrade decided to move up when Janibek became his mando - he was content fighting no hopers as opponents and mandos and making his 1 million or so per fight. But he has no interest himself in taking on a tough challenge if the money isn't right.Comment

You take this Janibek seriously, I don't think he's that serious. You're seeming to say if Andrade is being avoided it's his fault because he doesn't want the fight as well? Is that right? So If Janibek doesn't get the Andrade fight, then it's his fault because it's probably in his best interest to not lose his 0? Is that right? Is this how your theory works? If a champ fights certain mandos that you respect then it's legendary behavior, but if it's a meritless mando, then he's just avoiding the big challenges, is that right? And all along Andrade is really the one ducking Canelo, though they've been at the same weight class most of their careers.Comment

Andrade, although he was mandatory for the WBC title, made it known that he was also targeting a fight with long-time WBA 'super' champion Erislany Lara (23-2-2, 13 KOs), who was also regarded one of the best at 154 pounds. Andrade's promoter Artie Pellulo told ESPN, "I'm going to ask Stephen (Espinoza) if he is interested in doing a fight between Demetrius and Lara."[37] However, Andrade later stated he'd only face Lara as a "last resort", preferring to face Jack Culcay for a lesser title with the goal of securing a fight with Jermell Charlo in the future; “He [Lara] won’t engage or try and make the fight entertaining, especially if it’s coming into my favor,” Andrade explained. “He’s just going to survive, try to run, try to do the little pitty-pat counter punchesComment

Andrade was scheduled to fight Jermell Charlo (24-0, 11 KOs) at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino on December 13, 2014, defending his WBO title. On November 16 was cancelled due to purse issues.[18] Andrade was reportedly offered $250,000, but later increased to what would be a career high $300,000 purse.[19][20] In January 2015, Banner Promotions stated the fight was back on and likely to take place in the Spring of 2015.[21] The following month, Star Boxing and Banner Promotions announced a deal was being worked out, however, Andrade would ultimately pull outComment
