Canelo's absolutely deserves some blame. Eddie Hearn dealt him a crap hand because he had no options at 168. And his and Reynoso ego were through the roof accepted this fight. But a good promoter doesn't put their fighter in this position.
Canelo could of fought many guys at 168 that were bigger names then Bivol that would of had more buzz this weekend and generated more money and a easier fight. He's the cash cow there is better options doesn't make sense to handicap him at 175 giving away all these physical advantages for a guy who first title at 154Last edited by jabuppercut; 05-08-2022, 01:03 AM.Comment

Hearn doesn't understand boxing, he gets too emotionally attached to his fighters and thinks they are unbeatable
He saw no real threat in Usyk for AJ and no real threat in Bivol for Canelo
Canelo should hit up ol' fish eyes, who really knows the sport and the right fights to make.Comment

Hearn knows perfectly what he is doing.
Aren`t Usyk and Bivol co-promoted with Hearn?
Bivol is Hearn`s guy, Canelo is free agent.Comment

Say what you want about Golden Boy but if he was still with them they would of never made this fight. They made big fights for Canelo time after time even when they didn't have his opponent under contract. They wouldn't of forced him to go to another weight class simply because they have no options at that weight signed to their promotion company. Hearn inability to work with other promoters for Canelo fights so he pushed Canelo to fight the only guy he had at 175. If Canelo were signed with Hearn he would of fought GGG directly after Cotto and lost. lol Golden Boy saved Canelo from himself waited to move up to 160 limiting GGG advantages over him and paid offLast edited by jabuppercut; 05-08-2022, 01:19 AM.Comment

ive watched him over the years..and learned that the one admirable thing above all with eddie, he's upbeat. he takes an L and can make something out of it. Doesnt need to be a big money fight in Saudi, but the mere fact this was on dazn itself is a big win for them.
it doesnt help with dazn subscribers, canelo losing would turn many away..
but boxing is cyclical anyway..fighters come and go. upholding the credibility of the sport, putting on great fights is far more important than just cherry pick opponents pbc style.

Exactly! Bivol is now Hearn's new Star.... Canelo has been a free agent and went whereever for the paycheck. Hearn now co-promotes the Man who beat The Man! And still has Canelo on the hook for 2 more fights....Comment

This is not good for Hearn or DAZN they just lost money and ruined the image of their best asset. Bivol isn't a star now just because he beat canelo. Plenty of examples of guys who were not draws that upset stars and that star power didn't rub off on them. Bivol didn't beat the man the man is Beterbiev at 175. His win will be discredited because people will say canelo is too small for 175. Nobody is going to line up to see a guy with no personality a Russian no less (during the Ukraine war) if he fights anyone but Canelo or a fighter who already brings star power.

Canelo's people, surely, will talk him out of doing an immediate rematch
Golovkin III will do massive numbers in September if they stick to the plan.
For all those saying "Bivol is signed to DAZN so this actually helps them" - please stop showing your ignorance. Canelo is the sole reason the DAZN app is still in business in the US after Hearn squandered most of their warchest. If DAZN doesn't have Canelo, or if Canelo stops driving subs like he does, then their US prospects take a potentially fatal blow.
Bivol ain't driving a single ****in' subscription in the US.Last edited by paulf; 05-08-2022, 10:55 AM.Comment
