There’s a very good chance that Bivol keeps Canelo away the whole fight and there’s a controversial decision Lara style

Bivol has a good 1-2 but not much else I see a lot of body work through the first half and somewhere in the mid rounds a right hand hurting Bivol. Bivol can punch a bit but he's not a devastating puncher I don't think he punches harder than Kovalev or Callum Smith, but we shall see. This is honestly a 50-50 fight Bivol is not that much bigger than Canelo in terms of height so he shouldn't have much of a problem getting on the inside.
The main thing I notice with Bivol that I think Canelo is going to take advantage of is that he drops his right hand after he throws his jab before shooting it I feel Canelos going to time him with either that right hand or a left hook he's wide open for it. He also keeps his jab hand very low most of the time, he's got some speed but he's not that fast could end up being a problem. Aside from that he's very technically sound in the manner he throws his straight shots but his hooks are more whipping and don't seem to have a lot of pop on them.
With that being said he still poses the biggest threat to Canelo aside from the winner of Smith vs Beterbiev, so I hope he at least gives Canelo some trouble maybe stuns him a bit so we can see how well Canelo recovers against the bigger fighter. If he were to pull off the upset it wouldn't surprise me either he has good footwork and if he can manage to keep it on the outside he could outbox Canelo.Last edited by Kannabis Kid; 05-05-2022, 09:00 PM.Comment

Like Plant, Bivol keeps his left hand low sometimes, but he has better reflexes and can take a step back to avoid getting hit. Which is a better strategy than planting your feet doing the should rollComment

Bivol does not hit as hard as Golovkin, plus he is not the most skillful fighter Alvarez has faced or beaten.
Therefor? I don't think he is going to win this fight. That is my blunt analysis.
Yes Bivol most likely has marginally greater physical strength and endurance than Alvarez, but is he going to maximize these attributes? Is he going to fight at a high pace, creating all out chaos? Because for me, that is the type of fight he must fight etc.

Is Bivol skilled enough to beat Canelo?
He comes off as a bigger GGG to me but I don't watch him like that.
Has size, has power(?), but does he have the skill? If not, Canelo could make it a bad night for him.Comment

There is almost zero relation between GGG and Bivol. Bivol ain't bigger GGG. Forget it.Comment

Maybe I'm just jaded as of late with all the mismatches going on but I don't see this as some great fight.
Not saying Canelo is ducking anyone or anything like that or this wasn't a good opponent to take. I just don't see it.
Canelo is going to whip this bum like BJS etc. Every fight lately it's "This is a good fight" and it's immediate from the opening bell that the favorite is a much better fighter. Fights like Fury Whyte, Stevenson Valdez etc were all stinkers and I see the same here.

Wouldn't surprise my at all if Bivol wins on the peoples scorecards, but it will be especially hard for Bivol to get a decision not only because he's fighting the cash cow, but because it's Cinco de Mayo weekend and Bivol is Russian which I guess now makes him the Heel.
