Eddie Reynoso over rated. Personally I think Derrick James is better and he was an actual fighter. I think Valdez will find a new trainer.

Boxing fans knowledge of boxing is overrated.

Trainers can make the MOST difference with a young fighter to get him ready for the amateurs, or already in the amateurs, or fresh off a short amateur run. Not some 20-40 year old boxer who already developed bad habits for a decade or decades.

And to even see any real obvious difference at the TOP level in the PROS with a new trainer it does not take 2 pro fights vs fringe contenders. It actually takes 50-100 amateur fights together and then honing those skills with like 20 veteran tomato cans.

Boxers usually don’t have that development nowadays. Fans think a 30 year old fighter can train with Freddie Roach for 8 weeks and turn into prime Manny Pacquiao.

If you want to rate a coach, look to see if they have ever taken a young kid from the amateurs (or before the amateurs or right after) to a World Champion in the pros. Just one. Only ONE. If they were able to do that, then they did a great job as a coach.

When you rate Bomac, you don’t rate him any other way than what he did with Terence Crawford from birth to pro boxing. If Bomac or Reynoso could ever successfully train any other pro boxer at the top level, that’s just a bonus.

Funny thing is he beat Reynoso but Reynoso beat Valdez. The Oscar Valdez I know never showed up except in the 12th. Too late! Listening to his corner for 11 rds was suicide! The real Oscar Valdez destroys Stevenson.

Its boxing, you know. About fighting & winning in the ring? Yes, if you have looks & charisma like SRR, Ali, SRL, ODLH that helps but I hope to God we don't reach a point of denying greatness to great fighters because they look plain & don't speak well when a mic is pushed in front of them.
