Slight edge to Canelo, Winky wasn't offensive minded enough to win IMO. Winky's early fight were EXTREMELY boring, slow paced defensive snooze-fests. later in his career he pressed the paced more and became an excellent fighter in all aspects. I see the fight as Canelo doing what needs to be done to win.

winky certainly makes it ugly and canelo had a different primary style at 154 than he does now. He liked to sit back and counter and box with them more than come forward and press the action. That could make it very close. winky's forearms were very long when he did the peek a boo and hunched over it covered most of his face AND his body.

Can’t argue with this at all. Winky’s guard looked like two baseball bats protecting his face and body. Canelo would have to find a way to wrap his shots around the sides. He is good at doing that but still it’d be intriguing to watch. Winky had a good jab also.
I expect it would be very close also. Still like most on here I assume Canelo comes in with the stroke and gets the benefit of the close rounds with the judges. Winky would have to do more than just make Canelo look ineffective though. He would need to land more than enough to avoid the screw.

I agree. I don't think that's the way to best Canelo who punches in combination. However, could he do that long enough without gassing out at 154?

I can see Winky doing his thing making it boring AF.

Canelo by comfortable decision. You cant beat Canelo without having solid offensive skills and Winky dont get down like that. High guard defense and a hard jab arent nearly enough to beat Canelo..

However, that's the smart way to win. Hop and J Ruiz made a good amount of money winning fights in ugly fashion.
