Canelo Alvarez vs Winky Wright

Ooh, tuff fight to call. Winky was just so hard to hit. He also seemed bullet proof. -
Winky notorious for being screwed on the cards. Canelo notorious for getting scorecards he doesn’t deserve. Who wins?
That being said, with honest scorecards, I’ll take Canelo by the slimmest of margins. No facts to back it up, just a hunch.Comment

winky certainly makes it ugly and canelo had a different primary style at 154 than he does now. He liked to sit back and counter and box with them more than come forward and press the action. That could make it very close. winky's forearms were very long when he did the peek a boo and hunched over it covered most of his face AND his body.

One major difference that should have been Andrade at 154. Canelo told him I don't fight belts I fight for pride, waited for him to get stripped and came down from 155 and fought Lame Smith from the UK. Put in that position flat-footed Canelo and let Andrade fire off on him.
WBO Andrade at 154. Completely different dynamic.

Winky Wright was never the most dominating fighter. Sure there were fights where he dominated (Trinidad, Mosley) but that is not typically the case. Canelo is like a god to the judges, can hardly do any wrong and would win a decision over Wright 10 out 10 times.Comment

Winky wins 10 rounds in boring fashion as usual, but loses 8-4 on the cards. If Canelo couldn't deal with Trout, no way in hell could he compete with Wright. And aside from the cards, i had Trout well ahead at the time of the open scoring announcement. After he saw he was down(in texas of course) he decides to trade and it was all downhill from there. Canelo struggles with good boxers. Always have and always will.Comment
