As much as I want the big fights to happen, good on Fury if he's satisfied with what he's done and he gets out with health and wealth. It's not for us to decide if someone needs to risk their brain for more achievements - they've got to want to do it.

But he's not an ATG with that CV. He doesn't stack up with the greats even if he does in mythical H2H terms.

Fury has often claimed he's the best there's been so he obviously wants to be seen a certain way.
Maybe he's testing waters, saying he's retiring to see what reaction is?. But I do believe he wants to retire, but he will also take on board people's opinions. Floyd also cared how he was seen but is a fighter who didn't listen to anyone. Maybe fury will be stubborn like floyd?

Why on earth would he be facing a prison sentence? What for?

Fury will believe he's the best ever and will have no qualms about repeating it.

He must know that, on achievements in the ring, he's not. But then when did Fury ever worry about whether his CV stacked up? He does what he wants.

I'm actually starting to believe him. Now we just need someone to ask him the obvious question "so if you're retired, does that mean Usyk v Joshua will create a new lineage?".

If he's retired, and he's happy with his achievements then he should give the fight his blessing.

It's a case of if fury says he's the goat often enough some might think it. But I think fury knows people don't think he is. Fury knows if he beats usual\Josh winner it still don't make him goat in people's eyes. But it helps his cause rather than hinders it.
if he genuinely thinks he can beat the middleweight or robotic body builder he would go for it
