You know, gets your interest in the sport, and THEN moving on and following other boxers, but if you’re only paying attention to ONE guy, are you really a fan of the sport? Or are you a fan of that ONE guy? What happens when that guy retires or loses bad? Do you just stop watching boxing?

If you’re watching and following more than one boxer, then I’d say you’re a fan. But if you’re like, “I only watch the main event of a Pacquaio fight because it’s Pacquiao,” I don’t consider that to be a real boxing fan. And those people do/did exist.
A casual is what you just explained in a nice way. Lol.

I get it, but I also explained what you said as well a fan just starting out why judge them and push them out if they are brave enough to post on a public forum with their opinions. Maybe correct them when wrong, nicely or not! But to say they are not a fan at all, even just a little bit is aight.

I did essentially just describe a casual fan somewhat.

I define my old man as a casual and he himself said he’s casual.

I’ll tell my dad so and so is fighting and he’ll tune in if he doesn’t have anything going on. Me and him went out to watch the Canelo vs Jacobs bout. I had him over for Spence vs Porter.

He took me out to see De La Hoya vs Pacquaio at a bar when I was only 17! They weren’t gonna let me in, but my dad convinced them to since I was the DD. It was an amazing experience.

My dads casual. He doesn’t know all the top names guys nor does he wanna watch em all. But he’s no dummy when it comes to boxing or sports in general and he knows what’s going on in the ring.

Very nice. I have the same relationship with my dad and my brother as well. My dad was always at my house during PPV parties. And my brother will always call after big fights, we was talking about Spence and ugas last weekend lol. Their casuals but wouldn't call them that. LOL.

My wife and I are flying to Texas in the summer to catch a fight. Just bought tickets! LOL. She is my favorite casual to chat with!

Pretty cool back and forth. I can relate to both of you.

Not “fanbase”. Just boxer critics. Canelo and Fury have the worst critics. They don’t even seem to be fans of anyone. They just choose to harp on Canelo/Fury with a new opponent every few years, creating new accounts to appears as a “fan” of a particular fighter. They give themselves away by obsessing over Canelo/Fury in every single post they make.

At one point Vivian Harris had a “fanbase” who obsessed only over Mayweather. Where is the Vivian Harris fanbase now?

Fury fans are bad though. They’re like roaches.

the worst ones are the ones who claim GGG was some overhyped bum, which shows how dumb they are because that’s admitting their hero got a gift draw against a “hype job”, a past prime one too.
Canelo fan here as well, I also think it is just pure fanboyism to deny Canelo lost the first GGG fight, I respect both fighters, I am a fan of boxing, always objective.
