Benavidez acts like he hasn’t had multiple opportunities to fight for a belt, and he squandered it. He needs to just admit he wants Canelo because of the money involved. If he really wanted a belt, he’d stop trying to shrink his fat ass down to 168 and instead fight Beterbiev or Bivol for a belt. If that’s really what he is after.

After all, it was his belt to begin with and Canelo only expressed interest in it 3 days after Benavidez was stripped.
Some of those opponents didn't have big names either, but what they did have were accolades. They offered Canelo something a Benavidez simply isn't offering him at the moment. Benavidez doesn't have big names under his belt either, but he also doesn't hold a world title. He'll be a challenge but Canelo's already facing challenges on his end. Bivol at 175 and potentially GGG in a rubber match.

Answer is simple. If you have a title Canelo wants then you’ll get a look. Ydirim was getting a mandatory out of the way so he could continue his pursuit of 168 unification.
Had Benevidez not lost his title on the scales he could have gotten the ass whipping Plant and BJS received. How about Benevidez work on being a professional and not coming in overweight? Show how much you want it.
Canelo’s the top dog and he calls the shots.
All guys like Benevidez can do is stomp their feet like a baby and cry about it. Fighting faded guys like Lemiex won’t get you that retirement check.
If they did fight would be easy work for Canelo.

Alvarez wins belts against limited belt holders then doesn't defend them. He defended the middleweight against AMIR KHAN who never had a middleweight fight. He hasn't defended the super-middleweight title and after he beat an aging Kovalev - he dropped the belt.

Before his fans get all emotional, look at what's real: he has lots of belts and makes lots of money but who are his SIGNATURE wins? What fighters are his best scalps? Mayweather, Pacquaio, De La Hoya, Chavez and the true greats can point to a fellow great and say "I beat THAT guy" And if its Golovkin (it is)...why do it again when he's 40? And don't ask who has Benavidez beat because Alvarez defended against Khan; Alvarez himself had only beat Austin Trout when he got the Mayweather shot.

Alvarez is the champion but how long does the champion get to "not fight" the #1 challenger? Benavidez is right - WHOEVER is champion has to defend against the #1 challenger, vacate the title, be stripped or retire. No fighter gets an indefinite pass, no matter how popular they are.

Benavidez has plenty of time to fight another big name in the divison.
Yes, wait your turn and, in the meantime, clean out the division so Canelo has no other feasible options @ 168; Plant, Charlo (if he actually grows a pair and goes to 168), Andrade, everyone. Or stop yappin'!

so why didn’t Canelo want that belt when Benavidez had it? Why did he suddenly have interest just 3 days after Benavidez got stripped? And yeah Benavidez missed weight once and failed a vada test. Guess what? Canelo is guilty of doing both as well. So don’t be hypocritical.

David Benavidez needs to forget about Canelo Alvarez for now, and possibly forever.
If he beats David Lemieux in his next fight, he should go ahead and move up to the light heavyweight division.
This will hopefully eliminate his struggles with making weight, he also has the hight to carry the wight comfortably.
He will still have the height, and reach over most of the fighters in the light heavyweight division.
That's his best career move for the future, and he still might get the Canelo fight albeit in the 175 pound class.
This guy is good enough to compete with virtually anyone in boxing, he just has to conquer himself first.

Canelo isn't going to give you anything. Force yourself into position where he has to fight you or drop the belt.
