Comments Thread For: Ruiz-Ortiz: Binding Agreement Puts Heavyweight Clash Back In Play For Summer

Andy Ruiz will have to honor his original commitment. BoxingScene.com has learned that a fight with Luis Ortiz is back in play for Ruiz, barely 48 hours after the former unified WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight titlist was revealed to next face Tyrone Spong atop a July 16 Triller Pay-Per-View event from Plaza de Toros in Mexico City. The announcement came as a surprise to many in the media, including Ortiz and Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) who reminded the California-based Mexican heavyweight of a deal in place for an in-house clash later this summer.

Sources: Andy Ruiz Jr. will fight Luis Ortiz next in a PBC heavyweight bout rather than Tyrone Spong despite a Triller announcement Wednesday of a July 16 bout in Mexico City. The ex-heavyweight champ signed to fight Ortiz before he signed to fight Spong
Andy Ruiz Jr. signed a contract to fight Luis Ortiz in a PBC heavyweight bout in late summer before he signed to meet Tyrone Spong, sources told ESPN.

Much better fight and a winnable fight for Ruiz with how Ortiz looked against Martin.

Ruiz tried this with A.J getting out of the rematch signing to fight Wilder before threats of legal action became a reality and most on here we’re encouraging him .

I would question the validity of this as well because team Ortiz has not mentioned a binding contract of any sort and talked about Ruiz wasting there time but if there’s an existing contract I would think team Ortiz would know the fight is still active but then again I remember it’s team Ortiz .

No, I can see Ruiz getting on his bicycle and running to a twelve round decision victory. There's no way in the world that he stands toe to toe, trade and exchange power punches with 'King Kong'. Ortiz may be old and yet he can still hit. He's easily the bigger puncher of the two.
