One thing I like about Haney is his adaptability. Change style/ tactics mid fight to secure the W. Kambosos will certainly keep him on his toes thinking with his style. Still young and ambitious I think he needs another tough finish to keep growing. This could be perfect for his development. It sounds dumb saying development given his standing in the division but he's 23. Nowhere near the finished article.
Where Kambosos chased Lopez across the US, Haney is getting dragged to Oz. His concessions are tempered by his hesitation. It's not like he went to Australia looking for Kambosos.
Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) wanted this opportunity so badly that the 23-year-old Oakland native agreed to an immediate rematch clause that would require him to battle Sydney’s Kambosos (20-0, 10 KOs) in Australia again if he wins June 5. The Las Vegas resident’s agreement with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc. and Lou DiBella, Kambosos’ promoter, obligates Haney to at least three fights with them on ESPN or ESPN Pay-Per-View even if he beats Kambosos and vacates the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO titles to move up to the 140-pound division.
Even Don King would be impressed by the chokehold that Arum and DiBella would have on Haney. Might be easier for Haney just to do a Tim Witherspoon and lose. After this bout though. He'll stink out the stadium with a win unless the judges are the same ones as Pacquaio vs Spence
I'm fairly positive that Pac and Spence never fought I could be mistaken though I guess LMAO
Clear that Kombosos' promoters have little faith in him winning if they are tying Haney to fights on ESPN even if he moves up to 140 - basically they want to be on a blue-chip boxer's coat-tails when he starts his ascension - this is very telling - if your own promoter is more interested in securing rights with your opponent what does that tell you about what they think your chances are?
Makes me want to root for Kombosos the Underdog from Down-Under
