If it has always been a problem, it only gets worse every year that goes by after 30. Metabolism slows down and it's extra hard to keep weight off you without borderline starving yourself to death. To properly balance maintaining muscle as in, not losing it from losing too much weight, staying strong and not putting on extra weight, it does require proper nutrition. In fact, if this is handled properly, whether you are maintaining weight for a division over your 30s or daring enough to go down in weight, it can have devastating results. Too many times we've seen fighters who can no longer have an edge in their division as they gotten older decide that going down in weight to get an advantage back and they look worse. I think Donaire is the exception to that.

Not in fighting shape he can't. After weigh-in rehydration, Errol probably tips the scales at 158-162.

Now think of how heavy the Super middles rehydrate to.

All fighters should have a good nutritionist if they can afford one.

All fighters should have to weigh in again on fight night. This will at least give data that can only help any of the issues involved about making weight. Also data on how much fighters weigh more then than their opponents.
I’m not saying there should be rehydration clauses exactly, but why not have as much info as possible? Fighters use weight cuts as an excuse all the time. They also claim certain fighters are too big for them in ring. If nobody has anything to hide then why not get on the scale? Truth is they have everything to hide. They can accuse fighters of being way heavier than them in ring, all while at the same time not disclosing their own weight. It’s super corny in a lot of ways, but nobody is going to give up more info than they have to.
Fans would love to see in ring weights. It would alleviate all the speculation that gets spewed.
Heavyweights have no limit but yet they can weigh in fully clothed wearing sombreros etc. even holding anything they want in their hands or even have rocks in their pockets. Millions are bet on these fights and you aren’t even guaranteed a good look at a fighters physique. I know most of the time it’s done legit thankfully. Still it’s like false advertisement if a guy can wear a full tracksuit and hide himself to the paying public. Claim to be in the best shape of their life.
Everyone just needs to get on a fight night scale in their undies and then everyone will know what is what. It will set a precedent for everyone fight to fight. No more hiding.

I love to hear this! This makes me think he is getting back to basics. If Spence and Crawford is really up next if Spence wins, hopefully we see the best version of both guys and let the best man win.
