GGG is p4p #1 according to BoxRec right now

How are they distributing points? That is obviously the factor to make him #1 based on having the most points. Though what generates the points and how does one get more points? KOs? Who you KO'd based on their record and how many points they had? I wonder what the algorithm is. Considering Canelo has nearly 20 more fights under his belt than GGG...Last edited by ELPacman; 04-12-2022, 10:12 PM.Comment

I'm on this too. He took the first, but called on Canelo to fight him "Mexican Style" for 2nd fight. Canelo did and took it back. Don't do it thrice. He's older, and too much time has passed. GGG needs to go fight other top guys or just move on and be old news, and enjoy a quiet retirement.Comment

- - Canelo never struggled vs Golovkin. If he was given credit for beating Canelo, which most give him credit for in real life, he probably still should be pfp number 1 with all Canelo has done since those fights.
Not sure why you find it so funny anyway.
"This guy sucks lol, but my favorite fighter struggled to beat him cleanly twice lol"
Nice flex man.
Without running, Canelo kept him moving into counters all night the first fight. I had Canelo by a point, so no problem with the draw that could've seen Golovkin by a point.
It was a great fight of strategy with two different stylists contrasting far and away beyond the comprehension of your average BS misanthrope who can be found screaming every fight no matter the result.
2nd fight was personal with Canelo with a score to settle. He took ring center for 10 rounds as King of the Hill to blast Golovkin backwards before he started boxing to close the fight.
As far as Boxrec ratings, they are at least transparent though a permanent work in progress. Anyone can access their current algorithm, but sadly, near as I can tell we have no access to previous algorithms. A few years ago they had arrived at what many thought as close to perfection as could be had, superior to the dozens of monkey media rating panels.
What happened next knocked them back a decade or more when they started tabulating "futures" into the mix. There was a hue and cry to no avail, and so here we are. Same deal happened when Big Dummy Bowe announced a comeback that put him #1 for a few days before removal. Same deal with Baby Joe Mesi who at least worked his way into the spot that lasted for a few months before his injury retirement.
At any rate, clearly GGG lost his mojo in the Canelo rivalry and now looks like an old man hanging on for a payday, all while Canelo on a record setting tear through boxing. Net result is Canelo won both the fights as well as the WAR...the end

GGG has beaten around 25 3 star or better fighters on boxrec's rankings. I think maybe 5 or 6 guys he beat were rated 5 stars at the time of the fight. He's had a really good run, especially as far as never having a slip up vs the 'good' fighters out there. Most boxers today and all-time can't say the same.Comment

Man, if I saw my guy lose a fight or two, I would just say 'OK the other guy was better that night' and I'd move on with my life.

Then we have people like you, who have to create fantasies to get them through the days. Wild stuff.Comment
