I think his hope/gameplan was the one Sergei tried vs GGG. And Ouma to a large extent.

Go toe to toe with him and try to outwork him over 12 rounds.

To do that, you have to take a ton of shots though.

Murata isn't equipped to try and beat GGG the only other way possible - to box and move and pick spots and outbox him over 12 rounds.

I don’t know that I would go as far as calling Murata’s performance, brave so much as disgusting. Most casual fight fans did not notice the dirty tactics that Murata employed. He threw at least 20 low blows, clinched and punched at the break, rabbit punched. I mean, seriously people?! Wtf was everybody watching? Murata came in desperately attempting to exchange and hoped he landed some big shots. Banking that GGG would not be able to sustain the pace of the fight. Murata’s so called plan was a huge fail. It blew up in his face. It was Murata that gassed out and the accumulation of punches that Murata and his team did not count on. GGG didn’t look that great either. I love GGG but he looked very old in there. A prime GGG would have gotten Murata out of there in 4 rounds

What an idiotic question. Everyone who gets in the ring to do this is brave. GGG is still perfectly capable of breaking someone's face. Perhaps you can enlighten us with as your personal tales of bravery...

Good grief stop talking dude. Better to keep quiet and appear a fool than open it and remove all doubt. Next time you're in Florida rent the ring out at Delray Beach Boxing and put your money where your mouth is...

I'm no expert but I noticed. I used to hate "dirty" fighters. I hated how dirty Holyfield was against Tyson and hated how dirty Ward always was. Then Ward's post fight interview after the second Kovalev fight changed my whole outlook on the subject. He was asked about the low blows and before the interviewer even finished his sentence Ward replied "I did what I had to do to win!" Didn't even deny it. Same for Tyson vs Holyfield. He bullied the bully. If Tyson was the baddest man on the planet he should've bullied and fouled Holyfield right back. At the end of the day winning is winning. How many rabbit punches has Wilder thrown in his career? The knockdowns against Stiverne in the 2nd fight were preceded by a blatant shot behind the head. Something he told the ref but the ref somehow missed and denied. The 2nd knockdown in the 3rd Fury fight was also a blatant rabbit punch while holding Fury's head (something he must've learned from Fury). Murata was doing what he had to do to win. Can't blame someone for trying. I'm not endorsing fighting dirty but it beats losing lol...

I completely agree, low blows & holding are especially effective with a handy ref, head butts and hell why not spiked drinks are also a good combo, if u are woozy u cant see them coming

I don't believe that the ref had a reason to separate the two fighters until the 9th and final round. Not to bad for two supposedly old an over the hill fighters.
