I just don’t see where the hype comes from with Garcia. He is flat footed, leaves himself wide open for counters with his sloppy haymakers, and isn’t good at cutting off the ring. The top level LWs will make easy work of him.

Unless Ryan gets someone out with his speed and power in the first few rounds he won't be able to compete with the top 135 pounders. He is very repetitive, is not as fast as Khan and throws mostly 2 punches at a time.
He is young enough to improve but the hype on him right now is B.S.Toscano

Garcia made the fight harder than it needed to be. Tagoe was just leaning into him when they got close to smother his punches.
A more skilled fighter would simply set him up like he’s going in then back up and tee off when Tagoe was off balance.
Garcia seemed content to walk him down and get awkward combinations which got him an easy win but could have been a KO win easily.
Also Garcia has a bit of Amir Khan in him where he gets off balance during exchanges. Could be a problem against higher level competition. He could get caught.

My takeaway.
It was a terrible fight to watch. A good bulk of that has to do with Tagoe not caring to win but just wanting to reach the final bell.
Garcia does need to work on some things but nothing major from what I can tell. Polish up his footwork and pressure game and he should be fairly well rounded. He pitched a near shut out (expected) but it gives him a good experience to see that he needs to work on being able to get to these guys when they choose to move around so much.
Much better to learn what he needs to work on against Tagoe then someone more dangerous.

Impossible to look impressive against a fighter whos sole purpose in the fight is to participate in a trackmeet and not get ktfo, don't care how good you're at cutting off the ring. Ryan had an undersized fighter in front of him and feel that was partially why he didn't attempt to set anything up and just stalked him the whole fight trying to get that highlight KO. All in all he looked big, stong, fast and showed a great gas tank.
With the elite of the division he"ll obviously be more cautious and throw/set up a better jab like he was with Campbell. Haney,Kambo,Tank,Loma will more than likely engage more than Tagoe was willing to last night which will afford Ryan more opportunities to setup his counter left hook. Going to be interesting how that speed and power affects thier gameplan and vice versa. Always and still maintain Ryan is the best fighter at 135 sans maybe Loma. Just need to get them in the ring with one another. Another interesting take last night was JoJo actually talking like he really didn't want that work with Ryan, pretty disappointing if that fight doesn't happen next.

Tagoe was full of bull before the fight, Ghanaian peppers my eye. Just the same, he brought out the worst in Ryan. All that talk about mastering the jab, new trainer, private gym, for what? He can train at the YMCA to fight like this.
