I dont think he's done. I just don't think at this stage he can beat Canelo. Put Charlo or Munguia in front of him and he beats them. At this point Canelo is probably the only fight he should not take. However, he has the burning desire for that 3rd fight. I hope it doesn't happen because I dont want to see GGG get battered into retirement.

Respectfully, I don't think even at 40 years old he is capable of being sparked, but I can definitely see a referee stoppage due to cumulative punishment. It would break my heart seeing GGG destroyed like that.

Great fight! Murata was durable but GGG broke him down as I was expecting. If GGG mauls the ginger from round 1 he will win or even ko him. He has to be relentless and break the ginger down.

Watching it now and Golovkin been dominating him since rd 1(rd 2 can go to Murata just based on output, but got hammered in the beginning and missed 90% of his get back). Golovkin clearly can’t maintain his output as long as he used to, but besides that, fairly good showing so far. Golovkin laying heavy shots on Murata, no surprise he’ll get pulled out, he was showing weakening by the end of rd 3, and I believe rd 4 started getting pushed back.

Golovkin took a lot of damage in this fight and the Dervychenko fight. He’s been looking a lot more vulnerable in recent years when he has a strong chinned opponent who has a good punch is in the ring with him. He also seems to require a fair amount of rest time between his moments of offence. Murata’ s planned looked to be to overwhelm him with work rate and to try to hurt him early. That plan was working but Golovkin managed to hang in there while inflicting some real good offence himself. I don’t think the momentum shifted because Golovkin made adjustments as much as Murata was just taking too much heavy punishment and was expending so much effort with his heavy offensive effort.

This was a very hard fight for both guys and it doesn’t bode well for a guy GGG’s age and previous recent brutal fights (Canelo 2, Deryvachenko, now Murata). These fights must be taking a serious toll on him. I would still like to see a third Canelo fight. Why not fight at the highest level, for the most money if you’re not going to retire?

Another thing,….people underestimate how strong, tough and the level of quality that Murata is as a fighter.

Golovkin needs to work on a counter shot to sleep Canelo.

Age and ring rust was a dangerous mixture once the ring rust wore off looked pretty goof. I dont like him at this age vs canelo at 168. Yet him vs charlo muginia yeah lets make it. Him vs saunders at 168 yea but him vs canelo no
