After the 2nd fight (even though I had Golovkin edging it) I think Canelo has more of a chance to improve. This match up reminds me of an old Joe Louis fighting Marciano. Canelo has the smaller stature and confidence to fight a close telephone booth type fight again. Golovkin needs to do more than just rely on his power jab. I wish he'd just try to hurt him every round. Even if Canelo is out pointing him, I believe Golovkin can ware him down by the 2nd half.

that is a sacred word in this game

that adjective (level) is determined purely by resume, nothing else matters... WHO did you beat, with consideration given to when/how

you need to change that adjective to make that sentence correct

I do agree, but... the other 3 official scoring criteria favored Canelo even more

defence - Canelo... Golovkin missed over 1000 punches in those fights... not even close

ring IQ - Canelo... one guy got his game going in that fight, and the other guy did not... not even close

effective aggression - Canelo... he imposed himself on Golovkin, landing cleaner / harder punches

the... "Golovkin managed to climb back into the fight, and got the edge late"... people... are mostly fans who see whatever they want to see... and who do not use, understand, or apply, the official criteria... and the... "Golovkin won easy"... people... are just the usual idiots that nobody takes seriously

like I have said many times...

casual-fans know nothing about styles / levels / weight

Why do some guys act like Golovkin only “missed” a lot of punches against Canelo? Do you not realize how much of Golovkin’s game is throwaway punches, not actually meant to land, but open up opportunities? Did he miss Canelo? Yes, no ****, it’s a boxing match. Want to take a look at his punch stats against Murray and Stevens, for example, to see how “inaccurate” he can be? Stevens imposed his will on Golovkin and had him against the ropes, something Canelo couldn’t do, yet Saul’s supposedly the only one to “walk him down,” yet Golovkin was free to circle all night and keep it around the center of the ring the majority of the fight. I swear some guys don’t remember the whole fight. While you have to favor Canelo in a 3rd fight, his output has dropped significantly since the rematch and that’s what made that fight so competitive, until he gassed. So while Golovkin is obviously older, having a lower output isn’t beneficial.

are you suggesting that Golovkin missed Canelo intentionally ?

do you think that Canelo may have had something to do with that ?

do you think the judges gave Golovkin credit for missing those 1000+ punches, or did they give Canelo credit for avoiding them ?

FACT: if Golovkin could have hit Canelo with those 1000+ punches, he would have done so

FACT: defense IS official scoring criteria

there is no way to spin that
