If belts mean nothing, then why do we have champions?

Even if he beats Cotto, he aint a 7 division champ in my book. Its a fake stat.

Of course he will be the greatest of all time if he nabs that seventh strap. Manny doesn't need Floyd Mayweather on his list of fallen foes to have that label. It's the way that Pacquiao fights that sets him apart from Mayweather. While Floyd dances, pokes and runs, Manny comes forward and applies pressure, constantly punching. He's a warrior, not a Dancing With the Stars reject. The only advantage that Mayweather has is that he has more judges in his pocket than Vito Corleone.

Manny Pacquiao is The Man. If anything, Floyd needs him.

7???? My count is at 4
Surely you couldn't be counting his LW reign after defeating David Diaz, and this trinklet paper championship that Cotto's holding right now (if he defeats cotto).
He has four lineal championships. That fact alone already puts him in the top 20 IMO. A defeat over floyd maybe puts him in the top 15.

World Championships mean something... belts don't mean much.
The weight (no pun intended) of world championships has diminished a bit seeing that during Armstrong's days there were only about 6 divisions or so, (compared to 17! today WTF!?). So winning 3 world championships in three different divisions then was a lot more difficult than it is today. Although it should be heralded, it's just not the same.

Out of all the current trifecta champions and now errrr ummmm qautrofecta champion??? There isn't one fighter that has won three world championships in the orginal 8 weightclass divisions. SO, if manny beats SSM or whomever has the throne at WW. That would make him a 5 time lineal champ with 3 out of 5 being in original weight classes!!!! (Flyweight, Featherweight, and Welterweight) That would put him in the top 5 of ALL TIME IMHO

Yeah you are correct but it is not that easy to go to weight class to another. What Pacman did and will soon achieve is unprecedented. Ask any boxer.
