I'm not sure he does either, and if so it could be some time. But he doesn't have that same amateur pedigree or experience. That's what people keep forgetting. Or choose to ignore more like. I'll enjoy finding out. And if it's not to be its not to be.Comment

Algieri. Josh Taylor is overrated and got dropped by catterrall. Benn would land at some point and Taylor goes down imo. I was high on josh Taylor and still am but he’s not as good as I thought he was. Brook has durability issues and Benn has power so it’s not crazy to think Brook could get stoppedComment

Who says I don’t like him? I just haven’t seen anything that leads me to believe he’ll ever be more than a mid level contender. You on the other hand post garbage like “Conor Benn is a problem for the welterweight division”. Add in that his promotional entity isn’t in any hurry bringing him along, dead give away, mid level contender at best.Comment

The problem is people are so hypocritical. They say Benn is not a worldbeater, and yet he's expected to go in with worldbeaters. Why? So they can see him lose, when he's clearly still a work in progress? Their trying to tick all the boxes for him. This is his first southpaw coming up. The champions in this division are southpaws. So there's a plan in action to learn and gain experience against different types of fighters and styles, that he didn't get in his limited amateur run. Sure, Algieri was not what he was, but he's normally durable, and rounds were required for the bank. But a fantastic ko in a performance in which Benn showed improvements is then ridiculed. What's he supposed to do? Underperform to get the rounds then be slated for not getting him out of there? Benns not for everyone, but the criticism is over the top. Better opponents will come. He'll deal with them. Or he won't. But right now he's progressing nicely.Comment

I don't even like Taylor, he's a wieght bully at 140, a rude boy in the ring and, from what I read, in the street too. That being said,, the names on his resume are not last generation, he won and unified v undefeated hard asses, one on the road. Benn is not that confident, he wants Josh, because Taylor looked bad last out. That's reverse motivation. He wants to hold his spot, not take a spot.Comment

No, I'd like him to start by being a domestic-beater. I don't mean giving the cleaning lady a good hiding. I mean he should start by being the man at British & Commonwealth levels before he starts dreaming of Josh Taylor. That means fighting Ekow Essuman & McKinson. Right now I don't think Hearn lets either of them anywhere near Conor & if he isn't ready for them then he certainly isn't world class. I've said it before & I'll say it again. Ekow Essuman gonna beat Benn like Kurt Zouma beat that cat & there will be cries & caterwauls when it happens.Comment
