IMO Lewis is somewhere between 15-20. Could have been top 10.
If Lennox fights and beats vitali....

I've got him somewhere between 10-15. The general public might rate Lewis higher or lower based on a rematch with VK, but in reality his place is secure regardless of that outcome. If Lewis loses, the Lewis lovers will say he was too old. If he wins, then some will say Klit is a never was for losing to that old,fat guy. I wanted Lewis to do the rematch, but at this point, too much time has passed and Lewis is way out of shape. He and Klit should both just move on to bigger and better things.
My man Torino always wants to bring up the Byrd non fight, but that non-fight has no bearing on anything. It was a meaningless matchup. I love old school, belts, liniage as much as the next guy, but that ship sailed long ago.Comment

i agree with you on your top 5Originally posted by Runw/knivesNo I dont. He beat a top 15 heavyweight in Larry Holmes, and that is about it. He never overcame adversity in the ring, and folded when the pressure got to him.
Not to mention I do not like him as a person. He is an insult to boxing IMO.
I also feel that if you had to list the top 5, I would say
Ali, Louis, Foreman, Marciano, Dempsey would be the order I would pick.
with regards to tyson, he won over lameduck and/or oldies, while lossing to better skilled and/or young fighters.Comment

Well, ......... You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that. But to put things into perspective, the non fight meant nothing to you, and I know your not alone.Originally posted by marvdaveMy man Torino always wants to bring up the Byrd non fight, but that non-fight has no bearing on anything. To me, in my opinion, It does make a difference, it has bearing, it wasn't meaningless, and that ship never left port. It's still there haunting Lewis's legacy. And I know I'm not alone in that opinion.
It means something to me when a champion dumps a Title. It takes something away from the term "champion". We mine as well just get rid of the "cham" and just call them "pion".Comment

Please go do some homework on boxing before you start putting people down over that.Originally posted by SturmRulesif u put lewis above any of those guys that run posted yr a moron
That list was laughable plain and simple.
Gene Tunney
Sonny Liston
Jim Jeffries
Max Baer
Primo Carnera
Max Schmelling
ahead of Lennox Lewis, are you ****ing kidding me?
Lets just take a look at this shall we.
Times Champion:
Lennox Lewis=3
Gene Tunney=1
Sonny Liston=1
Jim Jefferies=1
Max Bear=1
Primo Carnera=1
Max Schellimg=1
Floyd Patterson=2
Max Schelling won his title on a low blow and would lose it in the rematch. Carnera was a bumbling fool who's fights were openly fixed by the mob!!. Sonny Liston held his belt for a whole 1 year, his biggest acomplishment was beating Floyd Patterson one of the biggest head cases boxing has every seen. Ezzard Charles is the greatest LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT of all time. Charles biggest acomplishment at heavy was beating up an acient Joe Louis saying he beat Louis is like saying Roy Jones beat Evander Holyfield 2 years ago it wouldn't mean a damn thing. Gene Tunney like Charles a great Light Heavyweight who's biggest acomplishment came beating up an againg Jack Dempsey
I cant believe you actually tried to put Jefferies on an all time great list. A man who avoided every black fighter on the planet and was chased all over the country and world by Jack Johnson.
Max Bear makes the list ahead of Lewis? hahaha come on guy. You know what Max Bear is most famouse for? For being the father of Max Bear jr aka Jethro Bodine on the Beverlly Hillbillies.
Number of Title defenses:
Lewis=16
Gene Tunney=2
Sonny Liston=1
Jim Jefferies=7
Max Bear=1
Primo Carnera=1
Max Schellimg=1
Floyd Patterson=6
Combined years as Champion:
Lewis=10
Gene Tunney=2
Sonny Liston=2
Jim Jefferies=5
Max Bear=2
Primo Carnera=1
Max Schellimg=2
Floyd Patterson=4
Listen, im sorry, but of your gonna sit there with a straight face and try and say guys like Jefferies, Bear, Schelling, Carnera, Patterson, Liston and Tunney are greater than Lennox Lewis then you just flat out need to stop watching boxing right now either that or get your head out of your ass and stop thinking just because someone fought in the black and white era that makes them great.Comment

I never said the 14 others in my list were better than Lewis.Originally posted by joseThat list was laughable plain and simple.
You assumed that. And there is nothing wrong with my list; IMO
also, there was no order to it.
