Man was at the mountain of boxing folklore with his amateur record. Boxing and what came of it is just the icing to that career. Same with loma and a few others. What they accomplished in the Am’s is unusual and itself very under appreciated by people who claim to be boxing fans. Newsflash, boxing careers start longggg before you see these guys fight the first time. We don’t respect our olympians and amateur athletes the way they deserve and the way they are celebrated in other countries. How many times has Andre Ward had to remind people he won a gold medal? Nuff said.

He can say it and lie to himself all he wants. But he is wrong yes Canelo rivalry defines his career. For 2 major reasons 1 for so long the big fights fans wanted to see GGG either couldn't get them or wasn't willing to make them. 2 because his entire killer and boogeyman reputation was shattered by Canelo. Regardless if GGG or his fans want to accept the results of their fights it's undeniable that Canelo took more from GGG then the other way around. Physically GGG took more punishment in those fights but mentally and reputation wise even more damaging. Canelo has gone on to become undisputed, lineal champ in multiple weight classes and beaten a host of elite fighters so GGG is just 1 chapter in his story. But GGG's career is defined by waiting so long to finally fight a elite caliber fighter and then losing and his level of opposition dropped back off the years since they fought. Canelo won the fight and has had the far better career and unless GGG wins the 3rd fight to change the perception the Canelo fights will haunt him and overshadow his career.pretty ste likes this.

Lil G's career is Canelo. He made millions $$$ thanks to Canelo. He will get his retirement payday in their third fight thanks to Canelo.
Golovkin ended Brook’s career effectively, smashed his orbital bone and gave him just first loss. How exactly is that barely beating??
The Dereveyanchenko fight was close. A close fight isn’t a robbery. The judges were the ones responsible for the decision - why not name them.
Golovkin had the highest KO % of any world champion at any weight at one point and one of the best amatuer records in history.
Hamster sized career?? really? If is his professional resume is thin in anyone’s opinion it’s because nobody would even talk about him let alone fight him until after the second Canelo fight when he was what, 37. There’s a reason for that.

The fight that defines his career most is the first Canelo fight which everyone bar Canelo and the corrupt judges know Golovkin won convincingly. Fair fight. A pre peak Canelo and a post peak Golovkin and Golovkin won. To me it doesn’t matter how many times they fight after that as from then on the deck is always going to be stacked in Canelo’s favour being the younger fighter. That fight told us how good Golovkin was and the answer was that he was better than Canelo.

but at the end of the day, when the fight was at his hardest point. Canelo dropped the belt and swerved the challenge.
it was smart business, but don’t act like it didn’t happen. It’s a fkn fact

If GGG didn't know it after the first fight, he surely knows by now that he can't win a points decision over Canelo. He has to go for the KO

that's some ducking canelo and Co did out if fear ggg would have obliterated him
Canelo was forced into fighting ggg in the end and he had to use peds...still lost the first fight mind you in most educated pundits mindsLast edited by Stuntman Mike; 03-30-2022, 12:34 PM.JuniorTorres720

His resume is no better than Wilder's pre-Fury, a bunch of baby belt title defenses like Erislandy Lara (at least he has an excuse b/c FMW was holding the WBC/WBA when he was the #1 contender) and a bunch of gimmicks (Mexican Style, Good Boy
, could no longer speak English or Spanish when he got the DAZN check
) he used to hustle Unable Suckerchez, Clenelo Alvoid, DAZN for equity but he has no true fanbase and sucker Mexican fans.

Unfortunately for GGG those fights with Canelo will be the first item mentioned on his career.
Until the Canelo fights he was the boogeyman that HBO did a great job building him up as a top P4P candidate. He just couldn’t close the show on the biggest stage.
Canelo owns his 0, legacy, and middleweight titles on his mantle for all time.
