Tim Tszyu and his chances against the best at 154

Tim made his American debut and has alot of upside to him. He is fan friendly and willing to fight but what are his chances against the top 154 guys. I would be willing to say he loses to both title holders and even think Lubin and Fundora beats him along with a few others. His defense is lacking and his inexperience shows. How does his career play out in everyone's opinion?

How owl did you do on your first day of work ?
Were you nervous , did you stumble , maybe even dropped a coffee or maybe you just stuttereda few times during your first meeting
Just to mention a few , as was the case for Tim
First fight in the states , on a big stage ( although he’s had big fights in Australia ) , still green but if you seen him fight before , his last fight does him no justice
I think Tim needs to definitely tighten his defence , but then again I haven’t seen him get hit that much in other fights
He can only get better here in the Mecca of boxing with the better sparring and by bringing different characters to help with his defensive woes
I think he’ll do a ok against the top dogs and won’t be much of a underdog in any of those fights
Remember , styles make fights and Tim’s come forward with relentless agression is a good one
Plus his willingness to fight anybody already puts him ahead of quite a few

I dont disagree nerves couldve got the better of him and he is one of the few second gen fighters that can follow in his Dads foot steps but with him still learning on the job I dont think he needs to jump right in to a title fight next. He needs to take a couple of small steps up before does that. I wouldnt mind seeing how he fairs against Danny Garcia at 154. That would be a good measuring stick against a top name but a winnable fight for him IMO but also a fight he could lose if he isnt on his A game.

I agree Garcia would be a great measuring stick at this point
Unfortunately for Tim is he’s gonna be getting a shot at a title very very soon
Call it ego or maybe just balls , he ain’t letting that go
Learning on the job is a little to much to say about him , I just think he needs to tighten up his defence , mind you his defence did him no justice in the Gausha fight
He’ll do fine imo and is a breath of fresh air knowing he’s willing to fight anybody anytime
        That chit don’t happen often

Yeah it is a breath of fresh air and if he pushes the envelope with his work rate maybe he can beat a Charlo or Castano but its gonna be tough.

            Tim did great.

He is calm under pressure - didn't panic when he got knocked down, and got up to hit Gausha with serious shots right away, but always in a calculated manner.

His punch is spiteful enough to cause problems to anybody, including the top dogs.

I'm willing to bet that he's going to go far.

I honestly think the top guys are the ones who should be worried
A Castano ( who I enjoy very much ) or Charlo unfortunately are not going to change much from this point on but Tim has that time and inexperience to change chit in his game which wouldn’t be detrimental to his overall game

I agree with your first comments. Tszyu will be a tough night's work for many but he is too hit-able. As it stands right now, before their rematch, Castano and Charlo beat him. Lubin probably doesn't have the best chin but apart from that he's a better boxer than Tim and carries more power. Not sure about Fundora but I'd like to see it. If Crawford came up to 154 and they fight I think Bud cruises to a wide unanimous decision.

All this stuff about him being fan'friendly an willing to fight anybody is irrelevant once he is in the ring - though it's a good reason to like him.

I like that he is active now but it is easy to be active when you are easily winning fights but after tough fights everyone is telling them to rest a bit more so I expect his activity levels to ease off as his competition level goes up

As I told the other poster I think a Danny Garcia fight at 154 would be a good measuring stick for him. It's been a while since Danny has been in the ring and would be a good fight for Danny to test 154 out. Its winnable for both guys and would be a fan friendly affair IMO. As far as Fundora I honestly expect him to beat Lubin that kid is tough and I question Lubins chin.
