Teofimo Lopez will be the next king at 140 pounds after Josh Taylor vacates

Coppinger: Not real. Lopez is ultra-talented and also proved the hype was real with the aforementioned win over Lomachenko. Despite all the success at 135 pounds, it's too soon to say if Lopez will replicate those achievements at 140 pounds.

On the one hand, you can argue that Lopez will be even better at his new weight class since he won't be weight-drained. But he'll still have to regain his confidence following the shock defeat to Kambosos and recover from various ailments.

Lopez fought Kambosos with a slight tear in his esophagus, complicating breathing. He's also been dealing with an assortment of nagging injuries since the Lomachenko fight, and recently had surgery on his elbow and wrist.

Lopez is looking at a July return, and even then, he'll likely be eased back into the ring. When he is ready for a title shot at 140 pounds, perhaps later this year, he'll be eyeing down a formidable mix of contenders striving to take over the division. Jack Catterall proved he's a player with his controversial loss to Josh Taylor, and there's also Regis Prograis, who returned last week with a one-sided beating of Tyrone McKenna.

The 140-pounder who truly continues to fly under the radar is Subriel Matias, the volume-punching Puerto Rican with PBC. Lopez surely will be squarely in the mix, but he'll have to shake off another layoff first.

Saw him on ESPN TR Boxing this weekend trying to sound woke & enlightened- not good. You can tell Tim was hearing him but trying to reel him back in so he wouldn't go too far left. Listen, I get it, he's been through some things, overcame them, and still has challenges to deal with. Don't we all?

The Kambosos fight happened and it's gone. I doubt he'd go back down to 135 for a rematch, so why keep going on about it (unless asked)? Teo still has the goods, but his focus has been up for question for a while.

In my opinion, Devin's done next to nothing to get a shot at Undisputed, but here we are. What can we really do? We'll find out on June 4th but it's a well known fact that Teo earned his shot to beat the man and Devin was given his shot based on current circumstances (i.e., Loma choosing to fight in the War against Ukraine).

This guy Teofimo Lopez Jr, needs to get medical help he is out of touch with reality, or is a pathological liar, maybe both.
He is a talented fighter with major, I mean major flaws, I saw video's of him getting knocked out in 2 separate sparing sessions.
Jose "Rayo" Valenzuela accomplished the feat of few years ago when he was still an teenage amateur, and a weight division below Teofimo's.
Between Lopez's psychological issues, the pressures of high stakes fights, and his fathers own challenges Jr's going to have problems at 140 pounds.
He states that Kambosos is nothing, well then what does that make him, he lost to that nothing as he calls him.
Even worse than that he stated in the post fight interview, that he didn't want a rematch with his conqueror immediate, of otherwise.
who in the hell says that after they've lost all of their titles, unless they're retiring, I've never heard a boxer state that before, that I can remember.

"Just say you lost in move on ? Maybe, or maybe keep your name in the air just a guess. As far as liking a fighter one hard thing to do is seperate the fighter in the ring and how he carries himself at least for me. The fighters that complain are heard the most bc they get hits on forums and noise and reaction is another thought. There are some decent fighters out there who accepts loss and defeat in a fighters way still. In any case man got me to thinking beyound the Lopez guy being an idiot, or what ever he is in reality. And I still have no respect for the way he carries himself as a Professional Fighter. Enough said

Delusion is fully set in now, fed by his Dad and his inability to access truth. No wonder there are family and relationship issues. It's concerning, as youngsters who previously looked up to him might become delusional too. At least the judges got that one correct, unlike here in the UK... better stop there
