  • Comments Thread For: Tim Tszyu: It Was Good That I Faced Adversity For The First Time and Came Back

Unbeaten rising star Tim Tszyu rose from an early knockdown before finding his footing and securing an impressive unanimous decision victory in his U.S. debut over U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha Saturday night live on SHOWTIME from The Armory in Minneapolis headlining a Premier Boxing Champions event.

Good fight in Tszyu's career progression, it's the type of fight and the type of style he needed to face. Gausha is a skilled operator, he has good defense and can crack hard with counters...the American's issue has been his productivity (both in terms of fights and punches).

I think Tim needs to face a few more guys at this level and clean up his defense and movement before he takes on the top tier. Tony Harrison, Julian Williams or even Liam Smith would do.

After that fight a title shot next might be just a little too early for Timmy. But he's mandatory so, if he doesn't take it, he'll get criticised like Mungo.

Under the bright lights, Tim didn't shine. He out worked Gausha, who has a low output to begin with. Tim has a fan freindly style, but I don't think the big dogs are worried. A high energy fighter could even the score and a ****er couldn't miss.

I want TT to be a winner, because his dad was one of my favorites as a young guy. I want him to be better than these other juniors. But man, he needs to tighten up that D and move. If he faces a puncher with movement, and stands there the way he did last night, he's gonna get smoked.

Stay away from anybody that can box and punches hard.

Was not impressed but then again he's gone from the usual aussie fighter diet of failed rugby players and Thai kickboxers to a borderline work level opponent so you know the fact he even won is something.

He’s 27 right? Big fan of his dads. He was in with a durable fighter. I’m not sure what Tim’s ceiling is but I can’t imagine him getting stronger or faster at this point. The experience from this fight is good. If he can get a fight with a top guy he might as well
take it. Maybe he has a good night or his style works out. A guy with a supposed pedigree not getting to the top until he’s 30 or so would say a lot.
