Why domination is not appreciated by boxing fans

Example in football all people respect how Ronaldo Messi dominate football or Lebron Basketball

In boxing basically you fight all top guys available knock them very easy was considered you fight bums if you fight live death fight people will appreciated you more? Why dominant champion catch

a lot of flack, but thats the reality of dominating any era, all your competition looks like garbage because they never get a chance to It happened with Larry Holmes as well, who in retrospect was quite an excellent fighter.

Ali is a rare exception because he was forced to sit out and his rivals were given a chance to make names for themselves

LeBron is like 4-6 in the Finals that’s hardly dominant. Fantastic player and of the greatest ever individually but he’s never dominated the game like Jordan did, or even how Russell did in the 60’s.

His longevity is insane anyway my points is why boxing fans think winning in close fights makes your resume better and your own status and is better than KO someone in 1 2 rounds why boxing fans doesn't appreciated domination why boxing fans appreciated more life death fights

Wayne Gretsky also dominated hockey like nobody before or since and he was definitely appreciated. It's hard to find a hockey fan that won't give him credit because with his numbers it's pretty much impossible. But we're also talking about team sports. With individual combat sports, it's just different. With Gretzky or Lebron or Jordan you're also supporting a team but with Ali and other fighters, you're supporting one guy and I guess it's just easier to dislike an individual. Sidney Crosby may be the best hockey player of this last era but he does have plenty who don't like him. I don't know. It's very likely that every top athlete has their detractors but when numbers spell dominance, they are hard to argue against. Boxing has a lot of variables, too, though, especially weaker and stronger eras. But it still stands that if you beat the best of your day, you will be praised and recognized for it. With boxing, you have many ways to avoid fighting the best of your era. In league sports, you don't have a choice. You have to play against the best no matter what which is why I dislike boxing's joke of a structure in place.

This why a fighter needs a comeback, or a come from behind, or an avenged defeat.

Boxing deals with character on a different level to most sports. Facing a man who has knocked you out is a very different sporting proposition to what most elite athletes face.

Domination is the only thing the vast majority of fans can see, the rest you gotta know the sport inside out to see what's really going on. Two greats can have a high-level chess match showing superb high-level boxing with countless traps and subtle strategies, the average fan boos this while he was in a frenzy during the prelim where two cavemen were clubbing each other for 10 rounds.

Boxing is the only sport where you don't get credit for being a dominant . fans are so dumb that they only give you credit if you win in close wars against your opponents because then your opponents look better and enhance your own status.
