Was Chavez Hype?

Massively overrated and over hyped for sure. The king of bum beaters and cherry picking. He also received a lot of gifts from referees and judges.Comment

Hector Camacho, Edwin Rosario, Roger Mayweather, Tony Lopez, Juan LaPorte, Rocky Lockridge, Jose Ramirez and are I certain that you are an idiot that doesn’t know a ******** thing about boxing.
Tell me that story again about how Canelo is as elusive as Pernell Whitaker.Comment

That’s complete f***ing nonsense.
How does being competitive with a great or several great fighters not mean anything? That’s absolutely ridiculous.
So I guess in your opinion Jack Catterall’s performance didn’t mean sh** the other week against Josh Taylor cause he didn’t get the W?
In your OP you literally praised Meldrick Taylor for “giving Chavez his first loss”. Well he didn’t get the win so that means nothing by your logic, either that or you’ll completely CONTRADICT your argument.Comment

Chavez Sr. was carrying the sport after Mike Tyson got incarcerated. He fought a lot of tomato cans but he was also very active, much more than you can say of any champ today. He fought a lot of contenders and made it look easy. He lost to Whitaker but he is one of the best that the sport has evenr seen. He had great wins and was dominant, the only fighter he didn't get in the ring in was Coggi. He was always looking to get big fights.Last edited by STREET CLEANER; 03-23-2022, 01:22 PM.Comment

It's not nonsense, it's reality. When people talk about Holmes or Norton they do not bring up Cobb. They don't and if you say they do, you're being extremely unreasonable and living a fantasy.

Mike Colbert wons rounds against Hagler, fought to a draw with Sugar Ray Seales, have you even heard of him? Does anybody say, yeah man, Hagler fought Mike Colbert when they reflect on Haglers record?
Didn't see the Catterall fight, can't comment.
In my OP I did not praise Taylor. I said the exact opposite in "I'm thinking, Meldrick isn't as good as I thought he was. I'm sure most everyone here is in agreement that he gave Chavez his first loss."
Can you at least try and be in the moment man?
You seem pretty upset and just focused on winning the volley. I'm slowly convincing you, you've abandoned Gamache and Castillo and we're down to Cobb. You're being the revisionist you've been saying I was in prior posts, even though I wasn't. Funny how that works out, but anyway, you're trying to rewrite what I said. I literally said now that I've gone back to watching Taylor, I don't think he's that good when going back and watching him against McGirt and I even posted a video for everyone to see.
I loved Taylor as a kid, but I was a kid. His record isn't really that great. Besides that his best wins are Aaron Davis and Glenwood Brown and Brown dropped Taylor twice.Comment

I haven’t abandoned anyone. I’ve said they were all good fighters, there’s just no point repeating the same point like you’re doing.

Of course I know who these guys are. I actually don’t think you know or at least fully remember who these guys were. I think either your memory is distorted or your masquerading as a boxing historian via Google like a lot of posters do on here.
Go watch Sanchez vs Castillo and tell me Castillo wasn’t a decent fighter based on those 15 rounds. Same applies with Cobb vs Dokes. I’m not saying they were great- check my posts I never did, but they were certainly capable fighters. No doubt about that.
The fact you’re focusing solely on the result suggests you either can’t remember the fights are haven’t even seen them. Not watching a Undisputed World title fight is blatant casual behaviour too.Comment

You know who Mike Colbert is? Stop lying!
Why do you keep bringing up Boxrec and Google? I've seen thousands of fights. I'm older and can't remember ever minor detail expecially during a time when boxing was great and there was no database to refer to anyways. You really expect me to remember every detail from magazines, local newspapers, and broadcasts? That is absurd! Calm down with that noise, I'm using facts from databases and you're giving me heck for it. What a weird thing to do.
I don't need to see Sanchez against Castillo.
Should I go watch Pat Ford vs Sanchez too? I mean, he went 15 rounds and it was close. Ford was 16-0. Who the hell is Pat Ford? You know who Pat Ford is lol?
Should I go watch Sanchez vs Pat Cowdell too? He was 19-2, went 15 rounds, and was winning on McMillon's scorecard! Never heard of Cowdell, neither have you, and his record is garbage.
Nobody is like Wow man, this guy beat Pat Ford and Pat Cowdell, those were great and notable wins lmao.
You've gone from great, good, to decent, and finally capable. Don't you think this is getting extremely childish now?Comment

This right here proves my point. You’re an ignorant fool who hasn’t even seen the fights.
Stop deflecting bringing up other fighters irrelevant to the discussion.
Sanchez is one of my all time favourites and of course I’ve seen the Ford fight. Ford rocks Sal early in that fight? What type of punch was it that he landed? Quick go check the fight on YouTube and pretend you know the answer.
You’re a FRAUD man. Idiot…Comment
