Interviewer handing Berlanga some excuses on a plate. Fighters do box and move and this should be prepared for anyway. You can't base your gameplan on a boxers performance in one fight. Rolls stood and fought with triple G and got KO'd for the first time, do you really think he's gonna do that again against another big puncher at a higher weight.

Bradley nailed it on his assessment, I also think Berlangas fame to early success has gotten to him he fell for the hype and seems like he wont or just cant make anymore progress

Agreed. Berlanga is never going to be a top p4p fighter but if he starts fighting more like Benavidez and Berchelt he'll be able to win a title and make some money

I just don't see what any trainer can really do for Berlanga, in the least harshest way possible he just does not have much at all to work with.
I think he is untalented and feel his best assets are his size and he is quite heavy handed. Painfully limited.

              Exactly

A trainer like that would bring out the best in him yes he may never be a p4p guy but he could make for exciting fights

Berlanga needs to develop a ramrod jab and punch in combinations, not just plod forward looking for an opening to throw the right hand. That works against journeymen, but the jab and combination punching and also head movement and footwork should have been worked on in all the training camps before now. I saw these things 10 fights ago and he has not really improved anything since that time. He needs more fights at this level or slightly below for now, and needs to start showing improvements, otherwise his career looks to be going nowhere except fringe contender level.

Berlanga needs to step out his comfort zone and go train with a better trainer. You’d think his skill set would be improving with the opponent step up, but he’s stagnant.

Its not all about supporting the best.
What do you mean all-in? Because I expected him to beat Rocha who I still don't think too highly of. Nowhere have I said he is the best in fact I've said I feel the top guys all beat him and clearly some who aren't do, just find him fantastic for the sport and a great source of entertainment inside and outside the ring.

I mean Blair The Flair will be back babyyy, WOOOO!

Went to see the fight live and it was a great fight atmosphere but all 3 showcase fights ended up as duds. I give Zayas the benefit of the doubt, he’s a young buck and future world champ once he grows into the division.

Berlanga is just a one trick pony and was just trying to land that right hand in which he had terrible technique throwing it. The fans let him have it with the lackluster performance and all this talk about a big fight in June needs to be canceled at the moment because no way is Berlanga ready for a Daniel Jacobs or Gabe rosado unless Top Rank wants to see him against top competition.

by the way the whole theater smelled like a pound of yerba haha
