Good read as always and some GREAT questions!

"Hagler vs.Jimmy Owens. Owens was DQ for holding".

They need call that more often I was SHOCKED the ref. Didn't call that or at least take some points away from Haney and Andrade when they were holding on for DEAR LIFE against Williams and Linares.

Good read as always, agree with most of it, though I don't know that I would put DLH's heart in the same category with Floyd and Leonard.

He's right about Munguia. Turned down the Charlo shot as not on DAZN. But he could've had a title shot on DAZN vs Andrade and didn't want that either.

The thing about Roberto Duran and Ray Leonard is that they were both seen as coming in at their best for the first fight.

But Leonard did take advantage of Duran's partying and gaining weight for the second fight. That's why he doesn't get the full glory...he should have tried to beat the best version possible of Duran. Instead of trying to get a legacy win through some chicanery.

Kell Brook should've been DQ'd for holding v Porter imo,& Bud should've had pt deductions for holding v Burns too. And of course Wlad Klitschko should've had pt deductions or DQ for almost every fight.

Ohh god! Don't forget Lewis vs. TYSON??? That has to be one of the WORST refing I ever seen. The ref. Eventually took points but the damage was done by then.

Can you imagine trying to box with a 250 lb man on your back???

Just try Shadow boxing with 125lb weights on each leg.

That is the one of the WORST blantant cheating they can do. They're not even TRYING to fight inside. It's Grab, Hold, Drop weight and wait until the ref. breaks it up.

            Then rinse and repeat.

IMO if Haney and Andrade weren't allowed to hold in for like the entire round they would of been KO'd or the fight stopped. They both cheated to survive.

Can someone please explain why welterweight is supposed to be an inherently better division than say lightweight, middleweight, light heavyweight, etc? If you look at most sports, the top athletes are around 6 feet tall, 200 lbs, not 5'8" 150 lbs. But that's because there are no weight classes. So Im not suggesting the other divisions are more talented than welterweight, but why would welterweight be more talented than other divisions? And shouldn't it vary depending on the era and who is in which weight class?

Yeah its laughable that ww is better considering theres only 2 elite fighters,& both are relatively unproven,& Crawford's going on middle age already with no end to the bum fights in sight.

Lhw is easily a better division at the moment with Canelo, Beterbiev,Bivol,& then Smith, Zurdo,& maybe Benevidez & a few others. Ww is hella overrated & kinda weak in reality

I think the referee should be realistic about the style matchup, and avoid getting involved to allow in-fighting... if at all possible

if in-fighting is not possible... because of style, or because the holding is too restrictive/prolonged... then the referee should deduct a point... but only after warning the offending fighter TWICE

after that point, he can continue to deduct points without any further warning

DQ a fighter for holding is... 1) robbing his opponent... 2) robbing the fans who paid to watch a fight

a DQ should only happen for repeated fouls that are dangerous... hitting low, rabbit-punching, etc
