Comments Thread For: Cobbs Targets Thurman, Mikey Garcia, Broner, Benn: 'I've Been Trying To Get Top Contenders'

By Jake Donovan - The mission remains the same for Blair 'The Flair' Cobbs. A stiff test awaits the outspoken welterweight, who next faces Alexis Rocha in a scheduled 10-round co-feature on Saturday's DAZN show from USC Galen Center in Los Angeles. The hope is that--with a win--Cobbs can proceed with his usual list of more notable boxers with whom he'd prefer to share a ring.

Hopefully he gets a lot bigger with a win tonight and gets his name out there, he's got a fan friendly style, some serious balls and is fab on the mic (a little Thurman/Ali esque).
Boxing is crying out for prospects like Blair, he should be a promoters dream.

Rooting for him and hope he makes a lot of new fans he is one of few fighters today that is everything right with the sport.

Broner and Garcia are top contenders? Since when lol. Cobbs vs Benn, nice one, against Thurman, sure, Ennis, obviously.

Mildly entertaining, but gets KTFO as soon as he steps up.

Boxing is crazy these days. If you don't call out the top guys they say, you never asked for the fight or you're ducking. Then you call out fighters it's "he's not good enough". There are fans that say nobody wants to fight Boots Ennis then Blair Cobbs approaches Boots face to face and then Boots team tells him he hasn't fought anybody lol Like Boots is taking down all the top dogs (Abreu and Dulorme lol) not to say Boots doesn't look impressive because he's obviously skilled. But Boots isn't a household name. Mikey Garcia lost to Martin so fighting Blair would be a entertaining fight, Connor Benn vs Cobbs will be a great fight. Instead of Connor Benn chasing a semi retired Kell Brook. And Keith Thurman just fought a 140 pounder coming off a loss and so a matchup with Blair Cobbs would be entertaining just in the press conference alone. Those two guys like to run their mouths lol I know Cobbs is a flawed fighter especially with his defense (he needs to work on that 100%) but put him in with a top dog and let's see if he'll sink or swim. Worst case scenario he loses in fire fight or highlight reel KO LOL

He’s bidding his depression from others and himself, the way Teofimo and Ryan were hiding how anxious they are. Cobb is not going far.

the pre-fight slings and arrows for Thurman-Cobbs would be worth it alone - both of these guys have a long career on tv ahead of them. Agree! Benn-Cobbs is a good fight on paper but I think Benn is still too unknown in the US and Blair is an unknown in the UK. Boots-Cobbs is a mismatch - red hot contender vs red hot prospect (though it seems strange calling someone as old as Cobbs a prospect). Broner is just semi retired at this point - he has one large payday left - he better choose wisely which one it is.

I like the way Cobb boxes. What he talks about is all after box. I don't know how far he'll go, but he's not standing still waiting for it.
