He will most likely have to work his way back, and I think it will be better for him? To get 1-2 wins before, attacking Lee Wood again.

That was a brutal fight, with a brutal ending. I don't think every fighter can just suddenly jump back in with the same fighter straight away.

Conlan may think he can, but I don't think it is wise for his development.

Conlan tactically should of just boxed defensively in the last round, he was beaten due to a tactical mistake in my opinion.

Once the last minute was called, or half the round had gone by 'He really should of just boxed to survive'.

Booth must of know that Wood was coming for the knock out, so Conlan should of been instructed to negate this by providing limited opportunities.

Ether Conlan did not listen to Booth, or Booth performed under-par in the corner in those latter rounds.

If Conlan didn’t get stopped in the 12th but lost a 10-9 round, which would’ve been likely if he only tried to survive to see the 12th, it would have ended up a majority draw going by the judges cards going into the 12th, and he wouldn’t have won the title anyway.

There would of been a rematch if there was a draw, and some controversy after the fight. Naturally Team Conlan would of caused a fuss.

Conlan would of left the fight, without being ****** out.

Ether Conlan or Booth made a tactical mistake, this is what I believe.

You don't know how knock-outs like that affect a fighter, some bounce back real quick 'Others don't'.

Adam Booth has not impressed me of late, with his corner work or tactical decisions.

I don't think there will be a immediate rematch, I would be surprised if there was.

Wood vs Conlan was absolutely amazing!!!! I loved this fight!! Bring on the rematch. I honestly do not know how a second fight would go.

Well, if he had a string of huge knockouts, I would agree. But Conlan simply doesn't have that power needed and that was the best punch he may have ever landed. It's unlikely, not impossible I agree, that he would land it like that again. Particularly coming off a brutal KO.

So I'd be more than willing to bet he doesn't land that hail Mary again and instead gets knocked out earlier.

Of course if he was in full health. Get well soon Michael! Rematch isn't something he should really be thinking about.

So it’s not like he has some granite chin, he’s tough, but if you’re getting stopped by McDonnell or dropped heavily by Conlan, there’s a fair chance it can happen again

I suppose both fighters know they can hurt each other. So this is not as straight forward as, one fighter have some sort of clear conscience going into the rematch.

Wood was dropped heavily, he survived maybe because it was early in the fight. Conlan was dropped late on, and was more fatigued at that point.

But still he did experience Wood, overcome his power and keep on fighting. So he knows Wood is not just going to disappear.

I am not sure what other fights Wood was aiming for next? I have not really watched ether fighters career etc.

Maybe this rematch will happen straight away, if there are no other bigger more meaningful fights.

Santa Cruz holds the full belt, and he said he’s up for fighting the winner of last night (wood). But Santa Cruz is already the full champion so why does he need wood? and he can probably find bigger money fights in America

Theres also the winner of Warrington v Kiko Martinez. Wood v Warrington would be a good money fight, both have big local followings, so I could see him pursuing that avenue if Warrington wins, but then Wood isn’t even a full champ, just a regular title so it’s not a unification with Warrington. So Warrington might be looking at a real unification instead if he beats Kiko.

I suppose those are his two main options. I think if he doesn’t land any of those, the next best fight would be the Conlan rematch, people would be happy to see it again.

If I was Wood at this stage, I’d just be going for the money. He isn’t going to be some super champ, I think there’s plenty of fighters in the division that beat him. He should try to make as much money as quick as possible.

It's not about needing Wood. The WBA are going through a consolidation process to eliminate the excess belts and have one world champion. So LSC will be ordered to fight a mandatory against Wood. If they try to wriggle out of it he'll be stripped. That's why he says he's up for fighting the winner, because he know's it's coming. Clearly he doesn't want to fight at 126 anymore, as he moved up in weight and hasn't defended this belt for about 3 years. But after his loss to Davis, it's apparent he would be better off at 126. IMO he should've been stripped for not defending a long time ago, but clearly that won't happen. That said I'd very much like to see Wood vs LSC now, so bring it on. I'm not sure Wood can win, but I'd enjoy finding out.

Conan was acting in the instructions of the fight like it was his coronation. Can't celebrate until the fight is over. That was one scary knock out and he was super gassed out on top of that.

Kudos to Wood for keeping pressing in the fight and looking crisp in the 12th.
