Different angle showed it was brutal right to temple as Conlan leaned into it.

Wood is the definition of a true champion not many would've got up from that first round knockdown after the new found power Conlan has developed at 30 years old. Even after being hurt multiple times instead of shelling up and giving up his belt he never stopped trying and he eventually outwilled Conlan to win in devastating fashion. Prayers for Conlan though I said I never thought he would be world champion but he almost proved me wrong tonight and it was a great fight on both ends.

Absolutely. He has way more heart than many much better fighters.

Conlan always runs out of steam
Or he’ll try to coast to get a breather
Good on Wood for not giving up especially after the knockdowns and getting hit with everything but the sink

That's boxing for you, hope mick ok, God bless, don't forget Lee wood is a massive puncher, so it was on the cards, the question was could he land on someone as polished as Conlan, he eventually did and we all seen the result. Well done Lee, what a win, hard luck Michael, you can come again hopefully, good luck to both guys.

There was a very brief moment, after Woods froze Conlan with the right, when a really top-class referee could've jumped in & stopped it. Yes, it was a split second, but that is what you need top quality referees for. If he'd immediately jumped in, Woods wouldn't have landed 2 more punches & Conlan wouldn't have gone through the ropes & end up in hospital.

It does remind me of Richard Steele. Referees get slaughtered by everyone but I'd always rather you stopped it a punch too soon than a punch too late.

Yes his body gave up on him. There was some punches landed on him about 5 seconds before he folded. Most likely exhaustion
