Punch for Punch, Who Hits Harder: Canelo or Ward

It might seem like a no-brainer but you must consider that Canelo sits down on his punches more than Ward did. If they both decided to sit down on their punches who do you think would hit harder.

Similar power, Alvarez is not a monster puncher.

I still have no idea what sitting down on your punchers means, I see people saying this all the the time.

I am unsure why people would think Alvarez is the clear bigger puncher?

Canelo is definitely sitting down on his punches more but I still think this new found power is because of his switch to wearing his NBNL gloves. They’re a punchers glove and have shown to not have much padding on the knuckles, so that along with him also having more weight on his shots now, I’d say he hits harder than Ward, who doesn’t actually have the best punch technique.

Andre Ward would of stopped both Caleb Plant and Billy Joe Saunders.

Ward stopped a better prepared Sergey Kovalev, pretty much at the peak of his powers.

Why is Alvarez considered the bigger puncher? Do you guys think Amir Khan would last 12 rounds vs Andre Ward?

Canelo Alvarez is not a monster puncher, I honestly think their punching power is quite level.

There is not much in it.

They are and were both solid punchers, with supreme technique.

It means planting your feet and loading up, you cant create full power punches when up on your toes and moving, you've got to be physically anchored to the ground to get your power.

I think Andre Ward most of the time, punched from the bottom up. As I have pointed out up above, there is no real reason to consider Alvarez a definitive bigger puncher.

They are quite level on punching power.

Canelo. He breaks triceps, orbital and ribs at 168.

Ward is not a known ped cheat period. Clenelo Alvaroids is a known ped cheat so he punches harder.

Like how he didn’t stop bums like Edwin Rodriguez, Alexander Brand, and Sullivan Barrera?

except he actually cheats in the ring. so what makes you think he's not on peds?

the fact that he punches like a woman?

it could be that he's a genetically weak specimen.
