Makes zero sense. You can only imagine how much this antagonises the people of said country, further consolidating their support of their leader. The opposite of what the West should be trying to achieve.

The West is trying to turn *****'s people against him so that if someone can grow a pair over there, they can potentially take ***** out. That is the West's way of ending this war without directly sending a soldier over there. The opposite to that would be, send military there which would be a direct entry into war with Russia and thus, nukes start flying in every direction, effectively ending human civilization as we know it.
