Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua Says Assistant Angel Fernandez Now Assuming Head Training Duties

If Anthony Joshua has truly found the new trainer he has been hinting at for the past several months, he didn't have to look too far. The British sporting star and former heavyweight champion casually informed reporters Saturday night in London at the OVO Arena Wembley for the Deji vs. Alex Wassabi YouTuber card that his main trainer at the moment is actually someone who has been a familiar face in his corner in recent years, Angel Fernandez.

Can’t say I’m a subscriber of this move. AJ clearly needed to switch things up after the Usyk schooling. Inwardly promoting one of the guys who were part of that losing team feels like bad decision- I guess time will tell…

One of the mods may as well merge these two threads together too.

Awful decision, I really think the best AJ was when he was really aggressive. He seems obsessed with trying to outbox Usyk and I’m not sure Fernandez is the guy to bring the aggression out of him

All of that shopping about, and for what?

To keep us waiting around since last September, that’s what.

Everyone's an expert. Bet you all know what he needs to do better than Angel too.

He's made his choice, doesn't really matter at the end of the day. AJ has to be the one who does it in the ring.

              He needs an American trainer.

Oh well. Joshua is going to be without belts for a while regardless, as Usyk is busy elsewhere.

Why is he not staying with McCracken?

Good decision not to stray to far from the ground work . He was most involved in the Ruiz rematch great boxing pundit who is familiar with A.J smart choice even if it’s just his next fight .

                    Joshua is finished.

He needs a massive overhaul, he's not going to beat Usyk just by making a few little tweaks (I mean it's heavyweight boxing anything can happen but I'll be shocked if he does)

This is just a sign to me that he cbf putting in the hard work and wants to keep things as familiar and comfortable as possible.

Hearn seems to know AJ is finished also and has moved on to canelo.
