There's two parts to this and you should be able to compartmentalise
1. Great that Usyk is defending his country and as a man he deserves all the respect in the world, as if that was ever in doubt.
2. As a boxing fan, it has to be a question of how long are 3/4 of the belts going to be inactive if Usyk's duties drag on for months. Its already been 6 months since the AJ fight.
Personally I feel if Usyk is tied up and the belts go undefended for 365 days they have to look at elevating him to emeritus champ and put the belts on the line for Fury vs whoever is the concensus number 2 in the division, with Usyk getting first dibs as soon as he's ready.
The undisputed saga has drawn out for too long and at this stage it's an open question if Usyk will ever box again so the SPORT needs to think about its future.
Imagine if Usyk is tied up for 2 year, maybe even longer, and then when the war ends he decides he doesn't want to box anymore.
