F*** me Golovkin is 40 years old time flies man it's been an honour watching this great warrior I'm gonna really enjoy his last few fights and hope he gets up against Murata. He's had an awesome career and we may still see some big drama shows yet.

GGG has lately begun to suffer from the hesitancy that marks aging fighters. In his second fight with Alvarez and especially in his fight with Derevyanchenko, he just couldn't get his punches off. He kept covering up, wading in, waiting for the opponent to throw so he could counter from closer range. The problem with that strategy is that the opponent can easily figure it out, throw a flurry, and then step out of range or to the side, leaving GGG with nothing to hit. (It's a testament to GGG's punching power that, after the fight, Derevyanchenko still looked like he'd been run over by a truck.)

Comparing this style to his younger days, it's become obvious that GGG just can't pull the trigger. Maybe his training can get him over that and we'll see the formerly aggressive GGG re-emerge. But if not, then another fight with Canelo is just a waste. GGG and Canelo seem unable to knock each other out, so the fight will go to a decision. And boxing's money men will never, ever allow Canelo to lose a decision.

After the fight, Kov was exhausted and said something like I needed this win more than any other fight.

GGG is going to be just like Kovalev. Win at all costs and show heart to pull it off. Then get KOed and retired by Canelo.

Murata is 36. It's an easier than young undefeated lion like Yarde.
I can't believe you just compared GGG to a faded Kovalev. What Kovalev did was impressive because it showed the heart of a champion, but no way GGG at that stage. GGG may suffer from inactivity, but he's still a better fighter than Kovalev was during the Yarde fight.

I envision GGG getting the win here because power is the last thing to leave a fighter and GGG can crack. Not only that, but he's got a superb jab and an experienced veteran with a strong chin. I think G finishes Murata in the later rounds after breaking him down in the mid-late rounds.

All I know is that anybody who gets beat by Hasan N'Dam has ZERO chance against Golovkin - it could be a 75 year old Golovkin in there and he'd still beat Murata.

With regards to the Canelo trilogy I can imagine G's only strategy will be to knock out Canelo. He will look to KO Canelo in honour of his two deceased brothers who introduced him to the sport! The question is will Canelo be able to live with an overly aggressive and bigger Golovkin?

Well to be fair, Murata should have won that fight. Not often is judging considered so bad that 2 judges get suspended. Nonetheless, I expect Golovkin to look good against Murata and make a statement.

              Sure about that?

GGG's fighting worse opponents and less frequently. Kovalev beat undefeated Eleider Alvarez and 27 year old 100% prime Yarde. Both are better than 36 year old Murata who hasn't fought since 2019. Oh and GGG's last opponent was someone we never heard of.

There's truth in your comment and as a GGG fan I admit that his run after the Canelo fight has been lackluster. But I still think he has some gas left in the tank and I think he'll be motivated in the Murata fight. I think he'll get up for a Canelo trilogy. I'm being optimistic here but I'm also a realist and understand that anything can happen.

Props for being a realist. I hope we get a good Canelo fight. But it's kind of a pointless fight. If Canelo KOs GGG, he'll get no credit.

I think Derevy turned his shorter stature into an advantage against GGG, but I don't think Murata will use his height effectively.
Yeah Derevy is a good inside fighter. Really good honestly, it's his only game. Idk if Murata is as good.
