Just had to look up who promotes Benavidez- some guy called Sampson Lewkowicz. Never heard of him. Wikipedia says he 'discovered' Pacman before he came to the US. Who knew (not me)

Lewkowicz has been around for a long time and knows how to spot special talent when he sees one. He also found sexy Sergio Martinez, I believe he does everything under the radar doesn’t care much for the spot light

The thing is Benavidez had already started to make a name for himself when he beat Porky Medina, he started to make some noise and was looking promising. I was looking forward to seeing him develop as a fighter and refine his craft and for a short time it looked like he was headed in that direction. But his lack of dedication and specially his discipline has hindered him from progressing, if anything he has regressed a bit always relying on the same game plan for every fight. If he would have kept on grinding hard by now he would have had a better resume and a large following which would have forced Alvarez to fight him already, yet is us the people that follow the sport more regularly that are the only ones who know who he is

This. Now that Canelo is busy with a signed fight and undisciplined benavidez has no belt, nothing holding him back from jumping to 175 to face Beterbiev and take his belt. Hell I heard to day he "easily beat Bivol in sparring" so I mean if hes already got that "sparring win" over the number 2 LHW, seems like the best thing for him to do is face the number 1 LHW. I cant see Beterbiev being afraid to take that fight. Hell they could do it on the Canelo-Bivol undercard to set up a fight with the winners.

Maybe if he asks canelo nicely he can squeeze him in at the end of the year being Canelo is the only big level fighter willing to fight 3 times a year these days.


I mean that could happen. Or we benevidez could fight some uber driver his promoter finds for him and he can go on twitter and cry about canelo ducking him.

I recall Benavidez himself saying Bivol hits as hard as GGG, but the Benavidez fans are saying Bivol is feather fisted. Not sure what to make of that

Dumb post. Benevidez only 25 years old and a 2 time champ. It’s not his fault that the other champs were saving their belts for a Canelo payday.

Benevidez would of destroyed poor Plant and would of stop Saunders easily as well. Benevidez is all wrong for Canelo, when was the last time Canelo fought a fighter who is there to actually hurt him.

It's his fault for being a coke head and coming in overweight that caused him to lose his belts and lose potential big paydays and fights.

Bumavidez can start by fighting anyone in the top 5 or even top 10 in the SMW rankings. Only one he's fought was Dirrell. And not get dropped by bums like Gavril, even if it was a flash knockdown.
