No, he cannot claim he is a champion, even in a world of alphabet titles. Taylor is the champion of all the sanctioning bodies.
I agree and disagree with this statement. Davis can call himself A champion at 140 but he isnt THE champion. I would honestly embrace seeing this fight because even though I believe Tank would lose to Taylor I think his stock would raise because I think it would be a back and forth battle.
Only if you want to remove champion as a useable word with any meaning can you start to acknowledge secondary champion titles. A champion means the person who is top or first. Secondary champion is meaningless therefore. You're either first or you're not first. You can't be second first.Last edited by Monty Fisto; 02-25-2022, 10:03 AM.Comment

You aren't understanding my point and you even made the point yourself. Look at the way you worded it I bolded the word for you just as I did in my post and I am in agreement with everything your saying just for the record. In my eyes Taylor is THE champion at 140 but considering the way our sport works with secondary titles Tank is in fact A champion with a secondary title. To me secondary titles are a participation trophy and nothing more. To the sanctioning body he is a title holder and pays to said title holder no matter how I perceive it.

Hes an interim belt holder, who refuses to fight the actual UNDISPUTED champion.

I understood, but words have meaning. I refuse to empower the WBA by acknowledging their meaningless shlt. If the WBA named ten 10 chamions, would they all be champions? No. There is only one champion. I don't care about the sanctioning fees he pays, he isn't a champion. What does regular champion even mean? It means you aren't a champion of a division. It's simply a mislabel therefore. You cannot take the regular part out of it and claim you are a champion without being dishonest.
